my advise, don`t waste your time with a rule book, look at what everybody else is doing...and do a little more.

Ya, some of those rules look a little biased too me. Cobras can use an alloy block, and the optional 4 speed no weight penalty, the c3 gets 150# penalty for said trans? I understand the historical side but letting things "even" out and be competitive and more reliable would only bolster the races IMO. As this stuff is now, their are a few guys racing and the rest are just running their cars at the track. Thats my simplified viewpoint of it. Anyway nice car OP have fun and be safe.

I took the car over to Tom Argue's shop today. Tom is going to do some misc. fabrication, paint the roll cage, and cut/buff the paint. I also found a suitable hard top for the car and it fit right up.

It's been a slow month on the build. I ran into scheduling issues with the chassis fab shop. I ended up having to use a different shop in order to keep the project moving. The car is now scheduled to go to Pro Fab Performance next week for the cage work. The car will then go back to Tom Argue for paint work and a few misc. items. I did receive my gauges from SpeedHut. I went with their Legacy Series. I was also able to mock up the center cluster with gauges and switch panel but it still needs to be painted.

You'll love their gauges!!....Ive used them in a couple projects so far. The wiring is really simple. How are you planning on mounting the 4" gagues in the factory openings?

I'm planning to use a Lexan adapter and a hole saw. The goal is for something like this...

I dig it!....I only ask because I wanted to use Speed Hut gauges on my similar build, but wanted 5" primary instruments....I have two sets of the steel adapters to mount 5" Attometer gauges in the factory openings ...was going to say you could have the spare set if you wanted them, but they won't work with the 4" Speed Hut gauges.....unfortunately. Love the build though

Neil,
Love it. You nailed it bro!!!
You'll love the BB power.
I have a '68 stock 427 and wouldn't want it any other way.
I would love to have the extra $$$$ as I would build an Owen/ Corning
L-88 tribute car to two cool guys.... James Garner and my Dad.
I lost my dad last Oct and didn't realize all the things I miss which I took for granite when he was alive.
He was a private eye and loved the Rockford files. We watched that all the time together as I was growing up.
I later learned he was a racer along with Paul Newman and Steve McQueen. The original bad asses. Jim not pop.

L-88 history never gets old......... enjoy that beauty.
A real head turner for sure. You did it right
Marshal

Where did you get the adapters for the Autometer gauges?

Thanks for the offer! I went with the 4.5" Tach and Speedo. The stock left side dash bezels are actually my least favorite part of the dash but we'll see how it looks and adjust the plan if needed.

Chassis work is finally underway. I was able to get the car over to Pro Fab Performance in Port Richey this week. They fitted the main hoop and we finalized the seat position yesterday.

Wow I love the build! Our racers are very similar in build. Mine had a real L88 crate engine in it though that I'm having rebuilt toned down some for streetability. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

The cage is coming together nicely. I'm planning to bring the car back to Tom Argue tomorrow for misc. items and paint.

Pro Fab Performance completed the cage today and I am very pleased with the result. The car is now back at Tom Argue's to paint the cage and hard top, cut/buff, etc.

Are you just doing the main hoop or door bars/halo as well? Looks good! I really like those old school looking seats!

No door bars or roof halo for now. I've had full cage cars before and it's just too much for a street car. I made sure the back of the cage was built to SVRA, HSR, SCCA/NASA spec so I could just add on the front half of the cage later if I fall off the wagon and decide to go wheel-to-wheel racing again.
