Right but most guys are not buying complete suspensions and want to use a coil over in a stock arm.. That is why I posted a list of cars the corvette coil overs work in so there not stuck paying 700.00 for a set, And made the point about reinforcing the lower control arm .

Excellent info........

And good discussion with Rodney.

But I agree....$700 for some shocks and springs is a bit high. And Ride-tech is higher than that.

IMHO

Latest info from QA1 is that the Front Pro Coil-Over Systems numbers are (for SBC) GD507-09450D -dbl adj, GS507-09450D - sgl adj, and GR507-09450D - drag race. This is direct from their catalog that I have in hand.
That equates to a 9" spring with the "D" measurements for the spring that match the vette perch for the original spring. And the spring is 450#. They also have a 550# and a 650#.
Problem is QA1 themselves does not list a price for this part number.
I have inquiries into several of their dealers asking for a price.
I also had several emails with Bill at QA1 and he said that dealers offer a much better discount than QA1 does directly. He originally quoted me for the GS507-10450C model but that is a 10" spring and matches up to a full size GM vehicle (that is what the C stands for).
It would REALLY be helpful if someone who has ACTUALLY bought and installed a QA1 coil over on their C3 could post the specific kit/part number that they bought their setup under.

I also asked Bill if and when QA1 would make tubular a frames for the C3 like they do for the other GM vehicles. He said, not at this time.

Until then....I'll keep searching.

Txs

Dennis, take a look at the Global West tubular arms. They have an extended travel lower which is made for a Coilover set up. Nice uppers too. They look very beefy and strong. Jimmy Meyer racing as well has a nice package for the C3.

I've had my dual adjusts on for nearly 10 years. I worked a part time job at summit racing so I could get a massive discount on my projects when they first opened here as a tech support/sales person. Anyway I sat in a big cubical with a vast array of every vendor under the suns parts books. The catalog they put out Is only 1% of what they can get.

So anyway knowing this i called QA-1 and got the part numbers of what i needed for the front semi coil overs and the rear just dual adjust shocks. then I called summit and the tech guy looked them up for me and I bought what QA-1 suggested.

Speed direct was selling the smaller diameter with a collar for cheap and I got the three sets in 50 pound increments.

Oh DDawson those bottom aluminums are PURDY! I just machined a round I think 1/8th steel plate

Thanks Bill.
As a matter of fact after visiting you, I did look at Global West's site.
Nice product.
Interesting note that I received from QA1 regards the front arms was that they felt the stock arms were strong enough for coil overs by attaching the lower t arm from above the shock mount instead of from underneath.

But I am still in the "while I am at it" phase of collecting parts.
So I may change out the front upper and lower arms while doing the frame.
Its just a question of funds as usual.

Txs for the suggestion.
Call me anytime you need an extra set of hands.

Latest news from Van Steel is that the "new" number that I posted GS(or GD)507 -09450D is not available yet.
They say that QA1 redesigned the front spring to better fit the C3.
Supposed to come out in about a week.
And the price will be $580 for the single adj set.
Which is $100 higher than the GS507-10450C series.

Will update info as other sources chime in.

Txs to all for their input.

You might want to check that.....I think that is the price for a SET.
According to QA1 direct, their dealers sell their products at a cheaper price than direct from QA1 itself.
QA1 lists most of their shocks as sets. The Pro Coil set is $579 for single adj.

Thanks for the info.

Speed Direct no longer carries the QA1 shocks in their setup.
They claim there were quality issues.

I'll be checking with QA1 dealers when the revised spring is ready.

Txs again......

Just ordered a set from JEG's for $480 + free shipping.

Their part number is QA1 GS507-09550D

Single adjustable QA1 shocks with 9" spring with 550# rating
D configuration which supposedly fits the C3 stock a-arm.

I'll let you know once they arrive what they look like and how they fit.

Still sitting in my storage room along with a gazillion other pieces.

Beautiful Vette! Have been following and researching as well. My concerns are similar as I want probably another 2 inch lowered on the front to get ride height close to what I have now. I’m afraid after market control arms will be required to get that low.
