With the thousands of long hoods available, purchasing one would be the best cost/time option.

If a long LT1 hood is available I can't find it - Have been looking on and off for a long time. I like that look more than the L88.

Default I think aftermarketr only

Both the LT`1 and L`88 cars hoods are the same length..Not available as a OE part, only if available as an aftermarket part if available at all.

It's the "aftermarket" piece that is at issue here - you can find long L88 hoods for later C3s, but based on my experience, you can not find long LT1 hoods.

You can get long big block l88 hoods everywhere.. but I ve never seen a long LT1 style.. theres not much difference, you should look at them. Check Ecklers .. Extending the original would be a mistake.. Sell your orig, to offset cost of new L88 long hood

I actually think they look worlds apart. The LT1 has much sleeker design IMO - hence the interest in it over a long L88, and my interest in this thread.

That might work considerably better than trying to lengthen a short hood.

No, the LT-1/BB hood does not have a scoop and nobody makes a long hood in that style

Default I offer this for you

I know you guys don't like anyone bringing up threads which are more than two months old for some reason, but this is specific to the thread and may give the OP some closure.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-1982-CO...FYrD54&vxp=mtr

I contacted them today to ee if I could just get the LT-1 scoop portion and they said they could only do the hood. It would be $1200 to get the hood shipped down to me in Tampa which is way more than I'm willing to spend on a hood. If I could drive over and pick one up I'd do it for sure.

If anyone gets one of these i ask that you take a lot of pics and send them to me!

A long bb lt1 hood would be a hot item even thought i find this a bit over priced the bigger rat hair in the tuna salad,
Is one long hood will not fit 68-82

The latches changed one hurdle but the rear corners are different, they show it on a 78 so the rear on this hood will not fit right on 68-72

People do body work to the hoods and or fenders to fit long hoods for later c3s on the early cars,

Or they buy a long hood made to fit 68-72 ecklers was selling the special long hoods....

Did i help the pain of 1200 any?
