I crushed a Z06 on NOS as well, and have it documented (see link below). Interestingly enough he passed me up just after the quarter mile, and his et and mph were printed on my ticket too (usually they don't do that these days). But I could tell by his mph, he was way faster than a stock Z06. I estimated (by his mph) that he was probably running a 250 shot.

Pretty hard to do with a stock C3 chassis, drivetrain (4 speed), and stock weight C3...Can it be done? Sure....but aftermarket 427, 5/6 speed, etc, different rear end
The camparison is basically two closely built vettes with some performance parts that are different, one with a manual transmision and on with an automatc tranmissiong just to compare basically the mph and the et( there are some differences between the two engine builds and the dyno's showed differences. No two dyno's are created the same and Paul did his on a chasis dyno while Tony did an engine dyno, The MPH would show us the power differences, This would be an apples to apples comparison in which I'm interested), Manuals put out more power to the ground, but automatics are know for consistency and quicker et's, I'm sure that Pauls vette would be right in there some were maybe quicker at this point because he has a beefier rear end and could leave a little harder. But once Tony gets his fourlink 9 inch in Which would allow him to leave harder then maybe not.

The Z06 usually is a high 11's or low 12s in the 1/4 . Some have been able to get low 11's but we are talking very very few.

In my clip I ran a Z06 with NOS .. I crushed him in my C-3 .. And I cam out soft on a cooper tire.
What was his time if you remeber or have the slip?

The poor guys esteem got drug down the 1320"...hahahahalol! I wonder twe things about that car and a couple about the conditions, I keep a book and write all the information the best details that that fog of mine calls its self a brain.
1)Do you think the driver had more than your two trips down the strip under hi belt and with this being said, was he using his nos and if so to the fullest of the car. Basically I can sum that one down a little, did he seem confident (not overconfident) and clumbsy with the car, ei, getting into it, up on a jack stand, fueling, under the hood smoothness?

2)did the car sound or seem to be modded on much?(80 horse n2o is a modd, but it was the choice when we we 16, The car didn't matter, the summer before we turned 16, we mowd lawns all summer long, some times for cash, some times for parts, tires carbs, engines, but we save up 250$ above our anual copenhaugen bil and not matter what you drove it got 180horse of nosystems. Burn out day in the highschool parking lot claimed a couple of ford tarus engines, 1 subby engine that acutally caught fire and broke countless parts, goood time, work hard all we trying to get it ready for next fridays smoke show.. When I hear 80 horse thats what it makes me think of,,good Times.

I guess were I was going with road to naustalgia, lings like 80horse nos, 3/4 race cam, liLinkcon zypher carburator, Glass packs bring me to the thought that the other racer is a teen...

Another was how clumbsy was he with his vehicle, often times when some one is new or nervious with there ride they tend to be a little clumbsey, just another sign of a guy you want to bet with, maybe with another 75 horse of nitrous he might have caught ya,,, Nice pass though. I've always thought that the c6 z06 was faster and should have hung with you.

Thanks! It's 408 cube Ls motor. Really it's an iron block LQ9, bored and stroked. Tough as nails. I've had that motor in there since 2009. They hold up excellent if built correctly. My first LQ9 blew up after only a couple of years of drag racing. I switched builders. But from here on out I'm building my own, SBC, LS or whatever.

Best time I've run was 10.60 @ 126.85 mph. My best 60' is 1.44. This is naturally aspirated running 93 octane gas right out of the pump. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Weighed in at a heavy 3680 with me in it. Was chilly out that day, I'd say the density altitude was about equal to sea level.

I took some more weight out but haven't run it yet. I also have an electric water pump that has been sitting in my garage for months waiting to be installed. I think it has a 10.40 in it next time out.

My LS is an overachiever...the calculators say it should mid to low 11's. But I got it running mid 10's with just minor changes here...there...and everywhere...each year it gets alittle faster because I learn more (and drive it better I suppose). It's the little things that really add up to make a big difference. A friend of mine has the exact same engine build from the exact same engine builder. His car is about 400 lbs lighter, but he has a few tricks up his sleeve (that I am aware of but haven't tried yet). He runs 9.80's.

11.2 sec 1/4 mile...2008 Bone Stock Z06

C6 ZR-1 for comparison at 10.85....

Properly driven C6Z06 is capable of the low 11's BONE STOCK.....in the 1/4 mile...do the math...3,100lb car with 505 NET HP (450-460 RWHP)..not surprising!

I would be #5 on bone stock tires. Not bad for a 1980 .

Reminds me of one of the days I was out on the ice at a pick-up game... An off-season Penguin showed up... now we all though we were bad ***'s... My team was a bunch of Russians... been playing 15 years at the time 6 days a week... then he got on the rink... felt like i was 10yo and my 2nd time on the rink.... wow he was good... made the rest of us look horribly bad....very humbling.. just like the Cadillac guys... very humbling..

Those cars above I talk about a fairly stock, with weekend race drivers like me...
