Default 79 rear caliper versus wilwood.

I have installed American Racing tt/II wheels. The clearence between the rear caliper and the spokes of the new wheels is almost nil. Would installing new rear Wilwood calipers give me more clearance? Are the wilwood calipers, D8-4, narrower than the stock calipers? I would like to get a least 1/4 inch more clearance.

Thanks,

I installed D8-4s last month on my 79 and can't see any extra clearance. Can't say for sure but its really close to stock size.

I say throw on a couple 2" spacers and some flares! Caliper clearance, fixed...

Sorry but you won't get 1/4" with the switch. They are made to match the original calipers.

I have D8-4 on my 78 and found no additional clearence.

exactly what part number did you install, normally there is no problem? Are you sure you have Delco calipers and not an aftermarket knock off?

They either touch or not. I say mount and spin the wheels on jacks.

They will self clear after couple miles anyway...
