Yes.
The starters all have a stamped part number that indicates their application and a stamped date code that indicates when they were assembled.
Both make them appropriate for certain cars.

The part # indicates an early 71 model year, 350 cu.in., 4-speed starter.
The date indicates January 5, 1971. '1' the year, 'A' the month, '5' the day.
This starter is on an engine in a car produced mid-January, 1971.

The LS4 starter ended with a 9 for automatic. May not have even been made for a Corvette.

Aside from the numbers would it matter if starter not made specifically made for a corvette? It fits perfect with no clearance issues. Only reason I dropped it is to swap out for a broken selenoid cover.

It sounds like you've been using it without a problem, so the stamps wouldn't be enough reason to change it at this point.
