You had a great time and didn't break anything
Dont feel bad on time first couple runs I made in an 89were in the 15s...then high 14s..was po'd.
Just a matter of getting used to it
Next trip out low 14s (sealevel 13.9) which is right where it should have been . Faster but still in last.
Running at the track different story than the st or a kid claiming times from a Gtech.

Thank you sir! I removed the bumpers years ago due to a small accident that bent one of the rears. After having it off and seeing some vintage race cars I left them off. The more I looked at it I did not like the factory molding in the back so I cut it out and hung in some glass to get the smooth look. other than this pic and my avatar its the only rear pics of the car I have on my computer.

Back in the early 80's my '69 convertible ran a 12.30 @ 116. "70 LT-1 with a GM second design "off road" cam, tunnel ram with 2-450 holley's, 4.56 gears and an M-20 shifting at 7200 rpm.
This was at Keystone Raceway Park near Pittsburgh.

Joe where did you get the air cleaner lid?
No idea what mine would run learned speculating the hard way meaning a hp # doesnt mean it will run XXX .
Ill say 12s to be real safe. Find out come fall hopefully..what sucks is there are no tracks less than almost 2 hrs away except 1/8 which is a waste of time commuting just to hit 3rd and back out.

The 1/8 calculation is pretty spot on when you up convert it to 1/4 mile

This is absolutely true. The common conversion factor is 1/8 mile ET X 1.58 = 1/4 mile ET. It works very closely on my timeslips.
And anybody who is not in high gear before the 1/8 mile point does not have optimal gearing in his car in terms of drag strip performance.

However , I was unable to come off the line hard I sat an an idle of 850 and took off on the green. So that may cause a blooper in the calculation.
I suspect now that I have my 4 link 4.11 on her I will be closer to 10.80 with a proper launch

We are old Street and Canyon Racers
We have two cars, but our C3 hits low 11seconds in street trim and drops to the 10 second range when we hookup the NOS and mount the slicks on the track! It's a 327 with over 500hp! Redline set at 8200rpms! About 12.5 compression and we dial in 40+degrees of advance!
We can run a lot of tire in the back!
In this picture from that era, it is wearing the less aggressively wide street tires, but this picture will give you can idea of what sizes of rubber we were fitting with our homemade flat style flares (about 28" diameter was our limit, but we were unlimited on this car as to ultimate width within reason and on a C2/C3 suspension!)!
