Default Replacing the vertical window seals on my 71

I'm installing an after market set of vertical window seals on my 71. Any tips? They just don't look correct. Thanks, Bill

Hi HT,
I hope your weatherstrip is from Corvette Rubber Company (CRC),
The metal retainer that the strips glue into are held in place with 2 rivets on each retainer.
The rubber strip fits into the retainer after applying glue to each, and then a single rivet goes into the bottom of the rubber strip from the inside… the quarter trim needs to come off to have access to the bottom rivet.
Not too bad a job.
Regards,
Alan

Here you see one of the rivets, the edge of the retainer, and a little bit of the installed weatherstrip.

Here is the bottom rivet for the retainer, and the rivet at the very bottom for the weatherstrip.

Thanks Allen..great pictures as usual. I did not buy them from Corvette Rubber Co. That's probably why I'm having an issue. Would you happen to have a part number? Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,
Willcox sells the CRC weatherstrip…. why don't you check with them.
In re-reading my first post I may have implied that the retainer needs to come off to replace just the weatherstrip… it doesn't.
I added that info in case the retainer was loose, off, or missing.
While the quality of the strips you bought may not be great, I'm surprised you're having 'fit' troubles.
Regards,
Alan

Alan thank you. I have to get the rivets too. I'm not going to mess around with the pieces I already purchased. I'm going to order from Wilcox. I usually only use Wilcox but saw them cheaper and bought them..you get what you pay for. Thanks again!

I tried again to use the set I purchased, METRO is the manufacturer. They will just not work, when I tuck them into the retainer they just fold over. I think there is to much material and they are too soft. I tried gluing them in place and letting them sit overnight. When I tuck the front into the retainer the piece that overlaps just folds out. Anyway, I just ordered a set from CRC, cost more but hopefully fit is better.
