had a set of hooker headers nickle plated and installed true dual. over the last 20 years the plating has worn off and the rest of the system is showing its age. the only other mod was a am/fm cassette installed in the early 80's. old technology im looking to up date.

I haven't really done too much to my car yet. The one mod that puts the biggest grin on my face every time I start it is the 40 series Flowmasters. :D

Installed a crate ZZ4 engine in my 81. I think my next mod will be installing a LT4 Hot Cam Kit.

I would say Cam and heads
Then headers and 2.5's with h-pipe
then 3:73 with 2500 stall on the old 400

Best mod I did? dunno havent tested anythig yet. But I'm betting it'll be the zf 6 in place of the 700r4 :)

Just wanted to say to stewart's74 what an amazing job he did on the engine. The left pic looks like it came out of the titanic :)

Stewart--amazing before & after pics of your engine in your sig. How the hell did they let that engine get that rusty?

haha...

I think i will have to keep the 2 in to 1 pipes on the car... i have thought about running 3 inchers :reddevil

I might run headers, but i dont think i can get it to pass inspection with em... even though the 75 was only 1 pipe into the right front leg of the y pipe...

Stewart... that is one pretty car... i'm with the rest of the guys... how did it get that rusty?

at least mine had a protective layer of grease, sand, dirt, dust, oil leaks, powersteering goop, and paint down under it... :jester

EASY...DPFI,. 730 computer on original engine, should have left it alone at that point.....after that wheels/tires and r/pinion steering/////down the list is the O/drive auto 700r4...because the 700 is a POS.....but that's life...

Mr vette, what are your tail lights off of?

How much money would it run me to grab an ls1 with the computer etc? That would pass emissions, and plant some power :yesnod:

Tail lights from a '68 Olds 88, the previous owners did that....and fender flared that were trimmed back also....body had had several paint jobs and various mods through the decades....except for the hood, it's the way I bought it....6-7 years ago....

Passing emissions with anything other than stock setup is highly problematica.....visual inspections and all that poopie...forget the readings, they want BOTH....

but once your car gets old enough that no one cares anymore....snicker...well that's the advantage of a chrome shark....

the LS1 could cost about 4 grand....but the late computers are junk, and complicated to programme....with so many interfaces to GOD knows what in the stock cars.....I dunno if one could be redone cheaply or not....
it's only about 400 hp anyway, so why bother??? get an earlier block, and build your own for less than 4 grand, and do your own DPFI or maybe an Edel setup...cost less, and just as good IMO....

Also, take the time to set up your distributor and carb. Lars, has an easy to follow paper on distributors in the archive.

NUttin rong with a ZZ4, good engine apparently...BUT you can do your own better and cheaper via junkyard roller block and rebuild with forged pistons....select your own cam and heads....less than 4 grand....

I added a plastic overflow container to the cooling system, so instead of spewing coolant onto my driveway, it just goes into the plastic container and I can stop obssessing about my car "overheating" !!!! MJ
