Default Front Wiring harness Connector

1970 454

I am fitting a new front wiring harness, I can see this has a plug which connects to the bulk head under the steering column.

The original plug now needs to be disconnected, it looks like its been in place since the car was built and is painted over and firmly stuck to the socket on the bulk head.

My questions is any tips for removing without causing any damage to the bulk head fitting.

Do I try and lever it with a screwdriver or do you have any tips/ideas?

Many thanks
Paul

Expect to find factory sealant on the plug at the firewall. Remove the center bolt and pull both halves (forward lamp and engine harnesses) out of the firewall. The halves then separate.

Ditto. Just clean away any gunk and the factory sealer material, then remove the retaining bolt. No big deal...

Yes that is exactly what I found; factory sealant is covering the plug, and hence was unable to see the retaining bolt.

I will scrape it off and loosen the bolt and remove...many thanks.

Many thanks
