C3 headers/? Who has them and runs them and likes them..
MY old '78 C3 (L48) engine) came with JBA performance headers ..
( installed before I bought the 58K car as third owner..2nd driver..)
IT basically sat with occasional running for over 2 yrs in a garage.
I'm curious who has or has installed headers on their C3 Corvettes?
Are you happy with them..did they add to the car's performance..Why did you choose the headers you did?
Mine are ..silver powder coated stainless.2.75"and I think they add a bit to the L48's. w/automatic tranny's acceleration and performance.jim

I choose Hooker Competition ceramic coated because the price was right. I bought them on e-bay for $199.00 because they were supposedly blemished even though I never found a blemish. They look and fit great and also added to the performance. They list for over $450.00 at most retailers so I'm really happy with the purchase.

I have Stainless Works headers and 2-1/2 inch dual exhaust and mufflers. The entire system is top notch, and sound great. I did have some fitment issues with the exhaust pipes, but the headers fit very well and clear everything with lots of room.

Last set of headers I PUT on a vehicle went on a 1975 International Harvester 1 ton pickup with a 392..which incidently had a tilt steering wheel and two tone red/white paint..One of the original exhaust manifolds had a crack in it..jim

What exhaust are you running? Who did you get it from, bolt on?

78 383 stroker, Hooker Dark side ceramic with Pypes Street Pro Exhaust 2.5 inch. The headers were an easy fit and sound good. The Pypes kit was terrible. Nothing fit, ended taking it to a muffler shop for modification.

I like my 1 7/8" stainless steel headers as I was involved in the prototyping and design and they fit perfect in my Vette.

Amen to that! It was a very noticeable difference in cabin temperature when I replaced the stock rams horn manifolds with ceramic coated headers.

I have 1-5/8 inch stainless UNCOATED headers made by Stainless Works. Very well made, and have exit spikes. I have no more heat coming into the car than I did with stock rams horns.....BUT, I have sprayed the entire inside de with Lizard Skin, and added some Lowes Reflectix insulation on inside. I hear about all this heat thing, but my right foot is two inches for the head collectors, and its not hot.

The ceramic coating keeps the heat on the inside of the tubes and even after running the engine for long periods of time the headers are cool to the touch within a very few minutes. The under hood temperature is drastically reduced providing even more performance.

Have had coated Blackjack headers on mine for 30 years now still look good. Pipes went out from behind headers last year and now I have a 2 1/2 chambered exhaust on it .

More C3's with headers than I'd have guessed!Pretty cool..I don't have any issues with abnormal cabin heat in my '78..Jim
