Default Old GM parts catalog question

When looking at a parts catalog and seeing "Pass" listed does that mean that it fits pretty much anything that was not a truck? I am trying to figure out of something fits my car or not. I included a copy of a parts page for reference, and see 6297622 as an example. The description in the catalog is pretty vague.

I was a GM parts man back in the day. Corvette had it's own parts catalog known as a "Y" body. Passenger cars were the full size vehicles. What are you looking for?

I think the Corvette only parts book is a P&A 30-B, you have a 30-A

Hi l,
Yes, the AIM has a great many part numbers.
But, some parts came to the production line as an assembly (such as the rear trailing arm assembly) so the individual parts aren't listed, just the assembly number. The parts that make it up can often be found in the parts book.
Another good reason to have a GM parts book is that many of the fastener descriptions that are just noted as bolt, nut, screw or washer in the AIM are listed in the book.
Regards,
Alan

If you can get you hands on one of these they can be very handy for running down part numbers as well as changes over the years.

At one time the dealers would give these away when the new edition came out. I should have held on to them, apparently they're now worth some money on ebay...

Good luck... GUSTO

Are you looking for a Corvette part or working on something else?
If so there's a Corvette only Cat.
You can likely find a scanned copy of it on line.

Guessing you're after the negative battery cable.
The description ctr to ctr is the cable length from the center of the hole end-to-end.
The early 68-69 cable was 6295070 @18"
The 68-81 cable was 8901980 @13"

And to your original question: Pass does not mean anything other than a truck
The Passenger vehicles are identified on page 8 of that particular CAT.

Was just using that Adan example. Good to know what the Pass definition is.

Your in the passenger car parts book which doesn't include Corvette. In the early 60's that catalog would have had everything in it but they split the books up in the later years. In 1971 there were multiple books for different cars.

Pass. stands for all passenger cars but does not include any truck, Camaro, Nova and other smaller cars. The only reference in that book that would cover other cars would be when it states "ALL" Which then would cover all cars but still not Corvette.

2.342 group is a battery cable group and you'll find out that it won't work in a corvette. I have six versions of the old parts book scanned in pdf format that have been OCR'd so checking numbers is easy for us and kind of cool.

Willcox.
