You are handling it better than I would be. Best wishes in a speedy recovery. Any idea of the cause?

Teflon tape on fittings. Sucked into needle, seat. I broke fitting loose to take top of carb off. Line was pressurized, sprayed gas everywhere, went up in flames instantly. I did not use the Teflon tape. Was my "helpers".

That`s what I was thinking..... as bad as it is, it could`ve been MUCH worse!
Puts the idea of having an extinguisher a little higher on people`s priority list!

My condolences, but was the motor running? i've been spared disaster over the years and I have three large fire extinguishers in my garage just because i work on cars at home. My vette also has a mounted bottle on the floor just in front of the passenger seat so it is out of the way

Awful!!!! Feel your pain! How extensive is the damage and can you fix it relatively easily? I too have a mini halon fire extinguisher in the compartment behind the seats....for small fires and a full size BIG one in the garage near the 78 and 10 C6Z06...

At least you got it out and it didn't burn down your house. Looks like quite a bit of wiring damage. Sorry to hear about this.

Sorry there Mako. That sux. So how does that work now with your "helpers" ? Do they have any accountability for the work they've done after they leave or do you sign waivers to release them from anything ?

Always bad times.....but consider the alternative....YOU could have been the one on fire......the Vette looks repairable.....
Clean it up....assess the situation and you will feel much better knowing what you have to do......I have a feeling that this looks worse than it is........
Good luck to you.......

Ouch. I've put out several car fires - none my own. Hopefully not as bad as it looks.

Man that sucks. I don't know how many times I've told people not to use that stuff on gas lines. But it looks like it could have been much much worse. Hopefully you can clean it up and get it back on the road soon.
