I'd find a better way to affix any signs if you have nice, scratch free paint. those deck lids are waaaay strong, and the latch mechanism is pretty chunky and goes into a metal fitting on BOTH sides--you'll be okay there. My little one was only seven . . . so she weighs nothing.
Use blue painters tape and lightly presses it to hold the sign. No issues at all, I do it all the time

I'd wanna see the young lady, beforehand. They seem to be growing them a lot bigger these days than when I was a teen. My girlfriends back then were in the 5' to 5'3" range and went all of 110 pounds soaking wet. I went to my niece's softball game this past summer, and I wouldn't let any of the team players sit on my car. (Except maybe to hold it down in a bad windstorm) Just sayin'.
