Default New Steering Wheel

Just got my new steering wheel today. Grant model # 930, Dircect 6 bolt on. A bit smaller and not as deep than original but beautiful wood replica of a walnut wheel. Same brushed aluminum spokes too. Accepts the original horn assembly and button. Really accomplishes that classic Vette look!

Wow. That looks very nice. First aftermarket wheel I have been tempted to look at.

Yeah very nice looking wheel. That would look awesome with a wood grain interior. How did you find changing over the steering wheel as I have to do mine soon?

Simple.....disconnect horn, remove horn button by gently pulling it toward you. Remove 3 horn contact screw which releases the ring contact, remove 6 steering wheel screws and replace with new wheel. Prob one of the few easier c3 jobs. Good luck.

Is it noticeable smaller? Easier to drive?

I've been debating getting a smaller wheel to help me fit in my 68

I have that exact wheel in my '72. Put it in quite a few years ago don't remember how many. Do remember that the turn signal lever was a little close and at a strange angle. I bought another lever and slowly bent it to the correct angle I wanted. Put the original on the shelf along with the steering wheel. I get comments on the new wheel all the time. Really makes a difference in the interior look.
Duane
Forgot to add that it's a little smaller in diameter than the original. Wouldn't make a difference in a P/S car but mine is manual and set at the faster ratio. It helps keep my 65 year old biceps and triceps in shape.

It is smaller than stock wheel, but not noticeable to the eye. Yes, easier to steer and feels very comfortable. Specs on wheel are 14.5 diameter and 3" dish. A bit smaller than orig. Easier to get out of car giving a bit more lap room. I am a stock guy and very rarely swap out for aftermarket. But just like the look of the walnut wheel.

Have same one on my 82 with a wood kit for the console. Looks great. No difference noted in steering, etc. Agree a little easier to get into car.

Mine was free! Years ago I ordered from Orange Coast Corvettes. It was drop shipped from a supplier direct to me, but OCC went out of business without ever billing me. Tried, but no one home.

I like that wheel, I find the original a bit oversized for power steering and I find the rim too skinny.
