Might be that the reason why it wears that fast?....mine after 300 miles is peeling off

Exactly! My theory is that if it moves around, it wears even faster (as evidenced by your experience and mine as well). If it's stuck on there, with that radical 3M Extreme Tape, it ain't moving! Thus, it's not wearing from the induced motion, not the actual 'wear'.

I had a problem with the rubber pedal cover coming off on my 79 until I installed the chrome trim that came from the factory. Don't really like the look, but its there to retain the pedal pad.

3M VHT is great heat up both surfaces a little that stuff sticks forever!

I never had a problem with the rubber pad on the clutch pedal, but the technician where I had the car dyno-ed twisted the pad off every time he worked on the car. I finally put 3M trim adhesive on the back of the rubber and now his size 13 feet can't budge it.
