'78 vette, how do ya get the side mirrors off?
greetings vette experts...
how do you get the side mirrors off a '78?? if I put the window up I can't get to the nuts, if I put the window down I can get to one but not the other~ should I drill a 3/4 inch hole in the window or is there a better method??? have looked in the Hanes and Chilton books and no mention of side mirrors....
time for a beer, tks in advance

1> remove door panel
2> Remove door window travel stop - this is a bracket located near the bottom of the door and it stops the window from descending too far into the door.
3>mark location of forward window guide at top of door - this is the felt covered part that bolts to the top of the door - you want to mark it so that you can relocate this part into its exact position
4> once marked remove the window guide.
5> lower window as far as possible
6>with window guide removed you should be able to push the glass in towards the interior of the car - providing enough room to get to front bolt of the mirror.
7>remove front bolt of mirror - then rear bolt - remove mirror
installation reverse of removal.
