Stingray emblem restoration
I did some cleaning and painting to my Stingray emblem. First I scrub off the adhesives, then put the emblem to dishwasher machine (my wife likes that...), then more cleaning with cleaning compound and finally painting the black areas with model car paint. I'm not 100% satisfied to the outcome, but anyway the emblem is much better than what it used to be.
In the pic the other emblem is straight out from the car. Car is washed before I took the emblem out, but still there is lot of dirt in those tiny corners. Maybe in future I use toothbrush when washing car for the emblems.

Re: Stingray emblem restoration (FinnShark)
I have been told that 3M makes a good substitute for the sticky stuff that was originally there. I haven't seen it yet, but a guy locally claims to have the name of it. I will ask him via email today.
Did you paint the surfaces by hand with a brush? I need to do this also.

Re: Stingray emblem restoration (GaryS)
I painted the black by hand with 00 brush. I figured that it is easier to paint by hand than try to mask those tiny corners... It is fairly easy to make sharp edges by hand to those sharp corners. An in case some paint goes to the unwanted surfaces it is easy to scrape carefully the paint away from these areas with a surgical knife.

I am really impressed. I just spent the money and got two new ones. Your cleaned and painted one look as good as far as I can tell. Good job. I may try this on my old ones and use it somewhere in the garage.

Of course there is some bad points in chrome, the emblem is 27 years old... So if you want the perfect look buy new one... I just wanted to try what I can do with the old ones... One point is also that if I order a new one from States it will cost me double price compared to you guys, because of the shipping and taxes...

Gary,
You are correct I believe it's called "Trim and Emblem Adhesive" (I have a tube, but too lazy to go out to the garage!). The stuff works great! The tube looks exactly like the Super Weatherstrip Adhesive tube. Body shop supply store should have it.
