Default "VERY RARE" 1980 Corvette.....hmmmmmmm....

http://www.cars-on-line.com/80corv9139.html

Chevrolet Corvette. This gem is a very rare, believed to be used as a GM Autorama car. It is two-toned silver/charcoal which was not offered in 1980 but offered in 1981. Trim tag reads "special paint". This car is an absolute virgin, 27,000 original miles, 4-speed, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks, glass t-tops, factory mag wheels, tilt/tele steering, leather interior, and very rare factory t-top luggage rack. As you can see this car has all factory options. The only thing done to this car since new is tires, shocks, and battery. Other than that it is 100% original. What a rare gem for the true collector! Price - $20,900

That is LOW mileage. Pretty close to virgin territory in my opinion. I think the two-tone paint was first offered on 81's in Bowling Green due to the different paint process. Suppose the VIN would tell the story. Maybe an RPO 'special paint'...

I wouldn't be surprised to find that it is a 1981 corvette...

What documentation do they have to back up their claim?

Motorhead, I just have to tell you, your car is HOT. The stance is perfect and those tires are just right. I have a '79-charcoal grey metallic with red interior. The front sits up in the air like a 4X4. I plan to do some suspension work and go with 17" wheels, but the stance and BGF's on your car are making me consider keeping my original alloys. Have you done any suspension work? Mine is due, so I want to do it right the first time..Also, your wheels are pretty shiney- that's one of the reasons I want to get rid of the original alloys-too much freakin polishing all the time. I wonder if powdercoating them clear would work.....Thanks...

I think the 4-speed and the low mileage would up the price, but $20k does seem extreme.

Flav,
Nice two-tone paint job on a 1980. Looks a bit like a 1978 Anniversary ;) . If this car was "special" the NCRS folks would have documented it many moons ago. They have not. Nuff said.

Doesn't look two tone to me, just the way the light is shining on the seat.

I think that's fair price. We paid 12,000 for a 46,000 mile 82 and it was in 7 out of 10 condition. So with that low of milage and how clean and original I don't think it's too high. If everything checked out as original and all that stuff..I think it's an okay price..but that's me.

Although this is a bit off Superfast's topic, I can assure you that in addition to looking great, Motorhead's Vette sounds great too! The roar she makes passing you at 80 mph on the highway is awesome, and standing beside that car while it was doing the dyno this last summer was like being underneath a jet aircraft at take-off!

If this is an all original un-touched 80, its worth every penny. Just my two cents. I found mine in the same condition and milage for $17,000 and I think I got a deal..
