This is probably the biggest/tallest hood I have ever seen on an otherwise stock looking C3. Man, I do not know how that guy sees anything to right of his car.

Sweet car though.

From looking under the hood I have to wonder why it needs it.

I like this hood.....and the car......That must be one Bad Hauling A-S-S car.....Wish I knew what that extra hose is coming out of the water pump and going into the intake manifold......If it serves a purpose then I want to know what it does....Maybe I can do this on my car to increase performance??????????? :seeya :seeya Cappy

I agree, don't see any need in the engine compartment for a hood like that. Guess it is just a touch of rice :D

For me, it's too much. Throws off the flow of the car's lines.

To each their own.

I can tell you, he may not need a hood THAT tall, BUT he cannot use a stock big or small block hood with that intake. I bought my car with the hood it has, and it has to have some kind of scoop to accomidate the top of the air cleaner. There are very few intakes that will work with stock hoods in a C-3 with a big block. Did you notice where the top of the air cleaner is with the hood closed, its in the scoop. He has basically the same intake as I do...

I agree, way too big, got to be a bear to drive, mine is bad enough.

The hood wouldn't look so bad if he'd only remove the trailer-park lettering. :U

Reminds me of Barbara Streisand or Toucan Sam (the Fruit Loops bird)...

Joey (71,454,4spd)-

I thought of your car when I saw this vert, but this hood just seems to be much bigger than yours.

I bet she'll move. I wish he had more detail on the motor.

Big hood does not mean it has any power. Just think of all the ricers and their huge wings. Same thing.

Why not e-mail the seller for engine details? Then post the response.

Yep, that's a 6 inch cowl. I saw one on an '80-something Firebird Formula with the stock TPI350

Dude, I have 427 BBC in my 75. Im running a Victor Jr. with a 8896 Holley 1050. I have the Ecklers high rise design hood and it will not clear a 4" K&N.
So, some people like me just don't have a option when it comes to hoods. :cuss

Yep, 6 inches sounds right to me. Mine is only 2-3 inches and with a 4 inch air filter I have about 1 inch of clearance between the air cleaner nut and top of hood.

hood= :U I have never been a fan of people that put huge cowl hoods on stock cars or at least cars that dont require them. If it was a stinger or twin turbo hood that is different but cowl hoods are supposed to be used for a little fresh air and hood clearance and that big of a hood is just rediculous.

That must be with a drop base air cleaner. Dominators cannot use a drop base, so I must have at least a 6" cowel. I would prefer to run a 5" K&N vs. 4". :chevy

I agree with your need. But the pics of the engine does not show anything that would need a 6" rise. The car more then likely does need some type of aftermarket hood but nothing that extream.

True, plus I'm running Conv-Pros, and on a stock car it is a little tall.

smokin75-427,
What's that extra hose going from the water pump to the intake....Does that ad in cooling?....If so, what does it cool?
If I switched to a Dominator with the 2" spacer adapter on my Super Victor, that hood would leave me about 1/2 " to maybe 1" clearance.
He may have put that hood on to help clear out some of the heat that bad boy generates.....I think the tires look wimpy for the amount of HP/TQ that thing must put out. :seeya Cappy

He is probably not putting out anymore HP/TQ than a LS5 or LS6 did, looks like nothing more than a intake and a cam upgrade.

It would be interesting to know the rest of the motor combo. I am 99% sure that is a Dart intake, if it is, they are an inch taller than a Victor Jr. He needs that tall ugly hood.

I am facing the same problem with mine and thought about the same hood for my car. I am going from an RPM Air Gap to a Victor Jr. Like most of you I think that hood is ugly. I am going to cut and raise my L-88 hood so the Victor Jr will fit, and at the same time keep as much of the L-88 look as possible. I am going to raise the hood approx 2"

A properly built 509 with a Dart intake should be on the far side of 600 HP.
