Would mazda miata seats fit in a 77?

I'm sure they would, cuz their interior is even more cramped than ours. However, I don't know why you would do this. Get 78PC-82 'vette seats, they're much nicer than the miata seats.

Also, for the miata seats, 10:1 odds say you would need to get creative with the rails.

I like the seats in my 2001 Miata. I'll have to go out and measure them now. Actually the tan in my Miata is pretty close to the medium saddle in my 73.
