Dart Iron Eagle 215 heads........?
Im thinking of getting some new heads and i want to get something affordable but that still has some muscle. @ summit the dart iron eagle 215 bare heads are $294. I was just wondering if that is a good deal, or even if anyone would recomend these heads.

Do you have any specs on your motor? That will give us a better idea how good the heads will be for you. Personally, I would only buy aluminum heads if I were getting aftermarket heads, and I would get the assembled heads, not the bare ones. Once you add up the price of the Iron Eagles after your put in valves, springs, etc. you may be close to the price of some pretty good aluminum heads. But, like I said, we need the specs on the motor to give you a good suggestion

What are your goals? Gotta give some detail as far as intended use: daily driver, weekend cruiser, strip runner, autocrosser, etc.

Well its just sort of a project right now....Im putting almost new everything in on the top end. New intake (performer RPM), carb (Holley 650 dp), new msd iginiton, new cam (lift>.500) dont know what kind, solid roller or what yet. New exhaust, new holley performance fuel pump. Its definitly not going to be high compression. Ummmmm i guess thats all i can think off. I dont know if this is pertinant info, but in the future i might think of stroking it.....but thats a long way off.

For some inexpensive good flow heads I have heard great things about the vortecs. About $500 a set and flow well to about .500 lift. 215 seems a little over kill for what you are planning, 195 might be a better fit and still give you some room to grow. AFR in alum seem to be very popular and I have a set of the 23 degree Trick Flows on my vette and a set of twisted wedge on my formula.

Re: Dart Iron Eagle 215 heads........? (Fevre)
For what you described, the 215 would be overkill, and cause you to lose low end power because of low intake port velocity. Something more around the 190-200cc intake runner size would be better for your application. Like Fevre said, the AFR 190's or 195's would be good, or the Edelbrock E-tec's (200cc) would be good. The more cam, the bigger you want the heads to be because your powerband will be higher in the rpm's. For example, the crate motor I will be buying from AR Racing is a 470hp/465tq 383ci, and it has the Edelbrock E-tec's on it. But at the same time AFR has 383's with over 500hp/500tq using their 190's. It all depends on how many rpm's this motor will see. For up to 6,000 rpm, the 190's will fit the bill, over 6,000 rpm, and the 195's or E-tec (200cc) will fit the bill. When I was thinking of building my own 383, I called AFR to see what heads they recommended for a 383 going to 6,000 rpm, they said without a doubt the 190's, more than that, and the 195's would be better. Edelbrock says the E-tec's will make power up to 7,000+ rpm. Good luck
