I THINK the TH-350C was on 80 LG4s and all L81 autos. I may be crazy.
I'll go check to verify.
*edit* Yep! Haynes lists 80 LG4 and 1981 Automatics as having "TH 350 w/ lock-up converter."

You have a TH350. But you don't want a shift kit or a high-stall converter...you want an overdrive tranny! If you can't afford it, start putting your change in a jar :D

Re: Th350 vs Th350C (page62)
My 1980 L-48 had a T350C tranny. The lockup feature was nice, but no where near as good as a 200R4 or 700R4 with the 4th gear AND lockup converter.
In the 1980 lockup was controlled by a combination of a vacuum switch and break pedal switch.
1981 it was controlled by the computer.
1982 it was changed to a 700R4.

Re: Th350 vs Th350C (Justin79-L-82)
My understanding is that I had the TH350C. It had the lockup converer controlled by a vacuum switch/sensor switch mounted on the firewall to the upper left of the distributor. Since the TH350C isn't the TH350, my understanding is that it doesn't respond the same to hopups (ie. I don't know of ANY high stall lock-up converters for the TH350C) in same manner as a good TCI or B&M build TH350 trans and corresponding converter.
That's the primary reason I opted for the 700R4 (plus the overdrive of course!)
When I installed the 700R4, I used the lockup wiring that came with it and disconnected/taped up the old 1-wire switch.

TCI makes a couple of different high stall lockup converters for the TH-350C

My 1980 L-48 has its original 350C transmission. It uses a vacuum switch mounted on the firewall to control lockup.
For alternative transmissions you should check to determine what (if any) modifications will be needed to the transmission support cross member. Also will the transmission ratios be appropriate with the 3.07 gearing in the differential?
