Default Freeze plug painting question

I am in the middle of a rebuild. Were the freeze plugs painted chevy orange or left unpainted from the factory?

I am not building a NCRS car or anything, but I would like the correct look.

Thanks

Default Re: Freeze plug painting question

The core plugs were intalled prior to painting (like many other components)... As such, they will be painted.

Engine painting was a "hit or miss" affair from the factory. As noted, many of the components (the water pump for example) were already installed and tended to mask other parts from being painted. If you want to have something that generally looks like stock, painting certain parts seperately to get better coverage is a good idea. However, if you want to approximate what the factory actually did, the procedure gets a bit more complicated.

Regards,
