Lost??? Where is the block oil pressure sensor on a 72 block.
To those of you who have '72 Vettes(or '71 or....).... where the hell is the block oil pressure sensor on your engine? The '74 engine that I pulled had an outlet right above the oil filter that attached to the oil pressure sensor. The '72 Z-28 block that I am working with does not have any outlet anywhere that I can see to hook up the oil pressure gauge. Were the '72 Z-28 Camaros purely *idiot* light driven and if so what drove that idiot light?
For some humor... I signed up for a Z28 Camaro discussion board to see if I could get an answer. A bunch of lookers to my question, but not even a WTF as I posted it as a '74 Vette with a '72 Z28 block! Oh well.... was worth a try.

Mines on the back of the block closest to the fire wall (I have an early 70's block.) I'll find a picture of how I routed it around the intake manifold...

It's at the back of the intake manifold on the drivers side. There should be a little "U" in the intake for the gauge to route around. But, that wasn't enough. So a trip to lowes spawned this creation..

Aaron....
I didn't even notice the hole you showed until you mentioned it. I have never bought a crate engine before with holes to plug up and even my BBC in the drag strip car from years ago was built by a engine shop. I bottomed out every hole I could find to see what needed to be blocked off or connected, but obviously I missed that one. The '74 block has a plug in that hole with a square wrench fitting on top. Looks like more adapting like you did. Damn! Why the hell did GM make the changes? If that is where it was in the early 70's and maybe the '69 they must have left the connection there for a reason. Do the later '74+ vettes have the same connection over the oil filter?
Thanks for taking the time to post pics. Well appreciated...

Hmmm...The only place I've seen them is by the oil-filter and the top of the block. Our Gen VI 454 I have in Auto Shop is located by the oil filter...hmm..I don't know.

Both my stock 71 and 82 have the oil pickup hole in the block at the rear of the intake manifold by the firewall.
