Used Head Value?
Has anyone successfully sold their old heads? I'm considering some Pro1's and it would be nice if I could sell my old heads to offset some of the price. They're nothing too special, World Products S/R, Iron with 1.95/1.5 valves. They do have 1.4" Crane springs with Comp Cams 10 degree locks & retainers. Some mild gasket-matching on intake & exhaust.
I've got no clue what these things are worth. $200? $300? I've got lots more than that into them with parts & machining and they work great. I'm mkaing about 250 rwhp and spinning over 6500 rpm with no valve float or breathing problems.
Any guesses or experiences with used head values?

You should get $300 for the pair. Put 'em on the parts forum. :flag

With shipping, I got $250 for a set of late model swirl port heads (they needed a rebuild, too). Locally, I got $125 for a set of 882's cores. I used that money to buy a set of bowtie heads with dual springs, stainless 2.02 valves, good valve job and in very good runnable condition for $500. Check prices on ebay, and you can get some idea. If they are in good condition, you should have no troubles getting at least $300 for them.

Ok, thanks guys. So I'm not that out of line with what I was thinking.
Part 2:
How the heck do you ship a cast iron head??! I've shipped a couple t-shirts and had it cost like $10! Heads seem like they'd cost a fortune.

Box them with a HD box, plenty of duct tape, and pack the extra space with Newspaper/bubblewrap... A shipping place (mailboxes etc... or others) should have the boxes. Mine were about $20 a piece (UPS) to ship. SHip them in seperate boxes too, because they are too heavy to put together.

DD: I have recently shipped 2 sets of heads Via UPS. One set went to KS for 42 bucks and the other set went to MO for 40bucks, from MI. I used 2 thickness cardboard all around and LOTS of shipping tape. Both receipients were happy w/the packaging........GO STATE
