Personally, I think the blue belongs on Fords. I dont know why the General switched from the Orange.

Sorta. It used to be that different GM cars had different engines; i.e., Chevy engines were different from Pontiac engines. This was true until the 70's. Then GM got caught with their pants down stuffing some Chevy engines in an Olds (or something like that). People were very upset. Didn't end up mattering anyway, because GM went to "corporate" engines for all their cars -- and these engines were blue. The Chevy small block in the Corvette was the same engine as previously -- but now they could stick it in a Pontiac and no one would care.
This was a big deal back then. Now we shrug and say, "Big deal..." Whatever.
