Bad vibes, I think from trans tailshaft bushing?
I've noticed a bad vibration in my car go from bad to worse. I think it is coming from my drivetrain because the vibration gets more intense if I am accelerating. All 6 ujoints are less than 6 months old. I've noticed a lot of fluid leaking from the tailshaft (muncie trans) and kinda think somethings up with the bearing or bushing on the output shaft. Any ideas? If its the rear bushing, can I remove the tailshaft without removing the entire trans?

I had a bad vibration at certain rpm's. Turns out my rubber tranny mount was in pieces. Replaced and fixed the vibes.
Can't answer the rear bushing question.

Had something simalr in my 4 speed, felt like I was going over rumble strips when I gave it gas. I wanted a 5 speed so I am in the process of putting a t-5 in. I got underneath mine and grabbed the trans yoke and felt a lot of play so I am guessing the rear shaft bearing is toast. Might tear it apart this weekend just to have a look see.

If it isn't the transmission mount then it is probably the bushing. You must remove the transmission in order to change the bushing. Have a look at the drive line, see if there is a lot of play in the yoke and the bushing.

They make a bushing extractor but the cost of tool may not be worth the labor savings of not removing trans. Extractor slips over output shaft and tabs engage behind bushing then you tighten a bolt that runs up against output shaft and removes bushing. Second tool then installs bushing. I've used tools but I don't know their cost. I believe you can remove just the tailhousing too but I would probably just pull trans. out and check everything over while I had it out.

Have you done any rear end work lately?
Like Take the Diff out?
It could be ( even if you haven't been playing with your rear end ) that the alignment to the diff is off. Not up and down, but side to side...

Had a vibration, couldn't figure it out, noticed alot of play in the output shaft of tranny. Replaced the bushing in the tailshaft ( a good mechanic can do it without removing the tranny ) and that did not fix the vibration. Also noticed there is still a lot of play in the yoke even with the new bushing. Turned out my rear wheel bearing were toast.
Take a look at other things before the rear bushing, however in you case because it is leaking then it could be the source of the problem. :D
