Spark Plug Gap after intake/cam/headers upgrade?
Do I have to change the spark plug gap after installing new Performer intake, 260H cam, headers, and advance curve kit? I am using original heads. Or should I stay with the factory recommended gap.
Thanks in advance

Yur runnin HEI correct? The factory gap for HEI cars usually bigger anyway. Usually when you convert a points style dist to electronic, say for instance with the Pertronix Ignitor, they will discuss increasing the gap. The hotter more powerfull coil they recomend you use will allow for a larger gap. Thats the key, if you change to a higher output coil you can sometimes get better performance from a larger gap. For HEI, I would recomend .045 plug gap. if you gap too large with a weaker coil it can cause hard starting problems since the weaker spark may have trouble jumping the larger gap. The benifits of a larger gap would come from the longer spark trail between electrode and ground post. The longer spark is supposed to ignite the charge better.

Nope. the car still has points distributor. I have not heard/seen any hp gain from converting to HEI. This one works fine. I am just going to get a curve kit for it.....perhaps Lars or Accel.
