New Milodon oil pan leaking through a welded seam
My brand new Milodon 7qt oil pan has a leak in one of the welded seams. :mad It's not pouring but I have a foot wide oil stain on the garage floor after 2 days. I know they are going to want me to pull the pan and send it back to them for a warranty exchange.
Is there any "easy" way to fix this type of leak (JB Weld or something) or should I just bite the bullet and send the pan back to the worthless idiots? :banghead: What a PITA.

IF it's ALUMINUM, JB Weld may work, but anyone welding it later will have a very difficult time getting a quality weld. The JB Weld literally bolds to the aluminum and can NOT be ground out. You end up with a contaminated weld.
With steel, it can be ground out with out a problem.
Here's an idea........Perhaps Milodon will pay for a welder to TIG weld a repair on pan while it's on the car. This is provided the leak can be gotten to with the TIG torch. Make sure the battery is disconnected before welding.
The best way would be to remove the pan, but that is a PITA.

That's a pretty big leak. I had a cracked weld on a race pan once that I sprayed sealant on after cleaning with brake clean. It never leaked again, but it never leaked as much as yours. I think the best way is to take it back off. It's more work now, but if you fix it right now then you won't have to worry later. Besides if people see that oil stain on the floor they'll think the Porsche did it and that just wouldn't be right.

I would imagine any reputable company would want it back to correct the cause - quality control. Let us know if you contact them and what thier fix is. :skep:
