High pitched noise from muffler at high rpm
Does anyone know what could cause this? When the car is idling and i rev to right around the redline mark I get a nasty high pitched rattling type noise from my driver side muffler. It sounds really bad. Just a few things, the muffler shop didn't install an H-Pipe, and just today i noticed the mufflers aren't mounted evenly. one if about 4 inches deeper than the other. I noticed this because I put some new chrome tips on today and one stuck out much farther than the other :P Nobody can get anything right!
But anyways, I'm thinking about taking my car back and getting an H-Pipe put in somewhere and moving the one muffler forward a few inches. Anyone have an cost etimates for this?
Also, I'd really like to know why the muffler is doing this...faulty muffler maybe?

An internal baffle or tube probably has broken loose. Had the same thing happen to a Summit house brand muffler on a S-10 pickem up truck....

Seriously, though - same concept. If the pipe was inserted too far into the
muffler, you might have a restriction or edges sticking out that can effectively
be a "whistletip". WhooooWhooo !!

They are Flowmaster 40 Series Deltaflows....and it whistled even before I had tips on. Before the tips it was just the muffler outlet. It seems to be *slightly* better with tips on now.
