Default What model Holleys do I have and which CFM on one

I have 2 Holley base carbs. I know nothing about carbs so go easy on me. The Quick Fuel carb is a 600 worked over to a 650 cfm, electric choke with vacuum secondiares. I bought it that way.
The question is what model style is it...4150??? Also can I take the electric choke off of it and put it on the other Holley carb??

The second Holley I was told is a 750 cfm. The numbers on the tower are 4777-5 and 3438 under that. It is a manual choke. I assume it is a 4150 model but cannot verify the CFM. Can I put the electric choke from the other one on it if I deciede to use it.

Which one would you run on my 388cu stroker performer air gap intake with a built 700R4 and 355 gears? Thanks for any info and I will answer any other questions you may have.

Neil,

The Quick Fuel Carb is a 4160 since it doesn't have a secondary metering plate. If it were me, I would probably run the bigger carb. I ran a 780cfm with no problems on my 350. Normally, a vacuum secondary is run with automatic cars, yet with your 4 speed auto tranny and 3.55. The mechanical secondaries will give you instant throttle response and feel like you have more power because of the immediate kick in the back of the seat. The vacuum secondary carb will be a bit more gradual in dolling out the power.

Bottom line is it looks like you have too good choices to pick from. Play with both and use the one that you like best.

Thanks Chuck for the response,
I do want to run the larger cfm if I can verify that it is a 750. My friend bought it from Hunters in Nashville for his 67 427 vert vette and used it for only a short time. I got it and a drop base air cleaner from him.

Now can I swap the electric choke from one to the other?
Thanks for the model info on the other one.

Neil,

my Holley book doesn't show a 4777-5, but does show from 4777 to 4777-4. They are all 650 cfm 4150's. Throttle bores are 1 11/16ths. Venturis: 1.25" primaries, 1 5/16ths secondaries. Hope this helps.

Chuck I went to Holleys site and they list the 4777-5 as a 650cfm but had some other size pri/sec listed. Exactly how do I figure out the cfm on my own? I know the quick fuel was a 600 converted to a 650. How is this done?
http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/CarbList.pdf
Here are some other # from the carb.
Butterfly# 172 Pri.
Butterfly# 173 Sec
base plate on top 70645 and on the bottom 11085
pri bowl 11166
sec bowl 11170
If you look straight down the bowl on the inside 6R 5534
tower 4777-5 and 3438
doublepumper,manual choke
