Engine finally done!! Dyno results...
It has been over 4 months!! I had no idea it takes so long to get parts and build an engine. I was hoping for 500 HP It was just a litle short of that, but should still be fast enough to get me killed!!
These are gross numbers. Just bare engine, no water pump, no fuel pump, no alt, no fan.
I will have more engine details latter, but it is a basically a 470 CI BB, hyd. roller cam, roller rockers, 9.5:1 compression, Torker II intake Holley double pumper carb, Merlin oval port heads.
here is a link to the actual printout: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/jay...ge_7-30-03.jpg
The car is at Guldstrand to have the engine and Keisler TKO installed. I thought about doing it myself, but chickened out after I realized how much money I have invested in parts!!
I will try to get some pics of Mr. Guldstrand working on my car this afternoon:)

Re: Engine finally done!! Dyno results... (SmokedTires)
Thanks for the kind words! The engine builder didn't even want to use the term Horse Power, All he cared about is torque. I don't know the specs, but it is a custom cam. He's going to give me a folder with all the specs soon.
He did flow test the heads first bedore he chose the cam.
I'll post pictures of the engine tonight, I don't have any with the new carb, but you'll get the idea.
BTW here's a pic of my car at ThunderAlley (aka Guldstrand Motorsports) It is in VERY good company- a Nice C5, a mid year coupe, a '53 blue flame, and another Chrome bumper C3.
I hope it goes better than Mr Guldstrand thinks it will... All the non-origional stuff such as- Dewitt rad, Keisler trans, and Hydroboost have him a little concerned. But I think it will go quite well.

That is going to be one sick combo of mods, including the wheels and looks like c-4/5 seats maybe

Cool. I can remember when you were asking about buying that car here on the forum. Glad to see you are liking it.

Jay,
That is outstanding!! :D Can't wait to hear about your first test drive.
After you get some seat time, you have to get that thing to a chassis dyno. It would be great info for all of us to know the REAL differences b/w gross and rear-wheel HP...especially since you have a modern trans in there (which hopefully will be more efficient!).
Good luck! Sounds like you put together a great combo.

Re: Engine finally done!! Dyno results... (WA 2 FST)
After all the money I spent, $80 is a drop in the bucket for a Chassis dyno test. I am very curious about that too! I plan on doing tht as soon as I can.
The last Chassis dyno I did 2 years ago came up to a whopping 236HP- Even a few mustangs could beat me :(
It will be fun to go back with this motor :)
