Anybody running DART IRON EAGLE heads?
I'm looking at a set of Dart Iron Eagles.
180 intake runner / 72 CC. 2.02/1.60 valves.
They look lika a descent pair of heads to me.
Opinions please.

I have a set of 215's with 2.05 valves and angle plugs on my 1970 Nova and I love them. They are very nice. The casting quality is impressive and the overall design is equally impressive. If you are running flat top pistons I would go with 64cc chambers and smooth them to get maybe 66cc. That should give you a good compression ratio without getting too high. My heads actually finished out to about 68cc so I recommend starting with the smaller chambers unless you have dome pistons.

Re: Anybody running DART IRON EAGLE heads? (burners)
Unless you are running a 383 or 400 stay with your 180cc heads GOOD DECISION! they will have better low end torque and still be right there in HP terms up to 7000 RPM compared to the bigger port DARTS. I do not have a set of the latest Iron Eagles but I do have a early never used set of Dart Sportsman heads with 180cc intakes (angle plug heads 72cc chambers) but the Iron Eagles do have a better exhaust than the early Dart heads (new eagles can make 12-18HP more than older versions with the right cam selection), they are yours for a reasonable price if you want them, pocket ported and ready to run: $695 assembled with SS 2.02/1.60 valves, screw in studs/guide plates, new 1.44 dia flat tappet springs, chrome molly retainers and MACHINED locks (only use machined locks on HP stuff!) Email me if you are interested, I can send you photos. zeohsix2002@hotmail.com

Re: Anybody running DART IRON EAGLE heads? (gdh)
I was thinking of buying Dart heads. Where can they be bought the cheepest? Dart told me by phone that they won,t sell to an individual. I can buy Motown heads from summit or Jegs, but are they as good as Dart heads? If they are why are Dart heads so popular? any advise would be most welcome. :conehead

I'm running the 180 Dart IE's but with a 64cc chamber. So far they've been great. IMO, a good choice for the money.

I have DART IRON EAGLE with 215cc intake runners and 64 cc chambers.. The 180cc heads are a little small for my taste.. Go with at least with 200 cc to get decent performance..

This should give you an idea:
http://www.dartheads.com/csbhiron.htm
The 200cc runners seem to be about the best fit for a street performance 350.

Kind of wish I'd purchased the 200cc heads (or at least this info had been available). Tuner praised the 180cc heads prior to purchase in 2001. Oh well, lesson learned.
