You don't use any sealant. Just tap the thing in at the stems base till you have all the way in and it reads the correct oil level. I didn't use sealant and it never leaks, it's a tight fit. :smash:

Wow...i would have thought that with 60 psi of oil pressure in the system , it would seep out around the tube at the pan , if you didnt seal it also.
Okay...i wont seal it and ill check it closely once i get it fired up.
Thanks, Rumpity

There isn't 60-70 psi of pressure in the pan (where the dipstick resides) there is very little if any pressure there. The oil pressure is exit the pump and not the sump. :D

I guess there wouldnt be much pressure in the pan after the oil has drained down to it from the engine.
Id be curious to know how much turbulence there is in the oil pan with the Crank , rods, etc...spinning around like crazy at high speeds ??? Do u think the oil is being blown about, or, do u think it is somewhat stable in terms of its level ?? I wonder about how much oil is actually in the pan when the engine is running at say....5000 rpms ?
Any idea on these issues ???
THanks, RR

I know the Crank isnt in contact with the oil. But there would have to be 'some' turbulence in the oil pan just from the Crank, rods, counterweights creating AIR turbulence which surrounds these components. Agree ?

Just recently I bought a new chrome dipstick tube and the package recommended using a little sealant. I put just a dab of Permatex 2 on it and taped it in. However, because the fit was really tight, I'm thinking that none was really needed.
