Thinking of giving Vette to my daughter
She seems to enjoy it, and I must say that she looks pretty good in it.
What do you all think?

While she is waiting for it to become hers, you may need to drive at every possible chance so you can enjoy it for her.

My dad gave me mine... he's living vicariously through me now...We talk about the car everytime we phone each other. He drives truck and stops in whenever he can to see it. The other day my AC compressor went out and he happened to have one at home for it. I had to drive a few hours to see him, but it was well worth it to let dad see me and the car. Sharing a hobby like this definitely makes the bond stronger. :seeya

My son is 14 and I'm actually thinking of selling the vette when he gets his license because he wants to drive the vette so bad. I was a completely irresponsible driver when I was his age. I want him to drive something like a Volvo, with lots of airbags & such!

JB, is he an irresponsible driver? That's probably what you should be thinking about.
Also, I can't emphasize enough the importance of starting driving early. When you drop a 16 year old into the driver's seat the first time, it's going to be a bizarre and foreign experience, which leads to nervousness or cockily driving beyond your ability. Someone who's been sitting on daddy's lap and steering until they were old enough to try out a few parkinglots on their own, is going to feel right at home and be a much better driver right off the bat.
Sorry that was completely off topic! I got some early experience, but I always felt like I didn't get enough. End of thread hijack...
Your daughter looks like a future SCCA member to me ;)

A real darling! But watch those promises. I bought my first Corvette almost 20 years ago and time passes very quickly. She may have a long memory and hold you to your promise about 15 years from now!

She needs that Vette!
When she is old enough to drive it, that can be your excuse to go buy another one for yourself and you two can start your own Vette club!
My 10 year old daughter has already claimed my Vette! Daughters have a way of melting Daddy's heart and can get anything they want from them. My wife sometimes has to be the voice of reason at our house.

I started out in a 56 when I was 5, then a 59, 63 SWC, 68 327-350 coupe and fianally my own 67 coupe at 18. My son started out in my 69 when he was the same age as your daugther and now has a primo 75 400 hp coupe at 18. Plus he knows how to rebuild every system on the car. Keep the car for her and you'll have something in common to share for years

Thanks to all of you for the compliments and advice. I bought mine from my uncle, who bought it new. My dad wasn't quite ready at the time to relinquish his 63 vert. (still isn't!) I got his into my garage at least, and i do him the favor of exercising it for him occasionally, (like any good son!) but it's not mine yet! Here's a pic of "my" vette and "my daughter's" vette cozy and safe in the garage.

Wise decision. Give the vette to your daughter. That way it technically isnt yours, but you can still occasionally borrow it. My dad did that with my 69. I think i am going to hide the keys, he never grew up.
OT - This forum is amazing, I never saw so many people on a forum in my area, let alone the same city. Very cool.

It's good to start build up their attitude as soon as possible... Our older daughter is now almost 3 years old and she also knows that Corvette is a special car...
