Default Radiator fluid leak, behind the right front tire??????

I have notice a small wet spot on the ground, right behind the passenger side front tire now twice. It has the color, smell and consistancy of anti-freeze. Where would this be coming from?

Check your hose from your overflow tank, thats were it is usually routed.

If its not the hose to overflow tank then its the heater core. My 81 is presently leaking and it leaks behind the front right wheel , and on the interior of the firewall (on carpet).

On my '80, both of the heater hose lines kind of run in that area. They connect at the bottom side of the heater box...ya might check there....

Especially if your car is running hotter than normal for any reason. Way to correct is figure out why it's running hot. Inadequate cooling system, running too lean, timing misadjusted, rad cap not holding pressure. The list goes on and on.....

could be the lower rad hose , but that would be leaking inward from the passenger tire.

Could be a lot of things when it is leaking from that area. Lets see... In the past couple years I have seen that leak due to a bad lower radiator hose, a bad heater hoses, and a failed seal on my water pump.

Warm up your engine and try to find out where it is dripping from. Otherwise, you will just be chasing your tail.

When I bought my 1973 and the first time I turned on my heater it leaked from there too. It was the heater core.

I`ve also seen the overflow tank fail...usually at the molded in mounting tabs or a seam

:iagree: My tank lasted 30 years, then it started ever so slightly leaking at the lower tab seam.
Replacements are easy to get at any Corvette parts supplier.

Well, I found that it's my Expansion/recovery/overflow tank but I have only found 74-77 and 77 L-82 replacements online. Any one know where I can get one for my 1980 L-82?

Edit: I found one, thanks.

72GACRZR,
I went to the web site URL that you gave me and I didn't see any for my 1980. I have one on order through GM parts here in town for about $20 which is about the same as a mail order place including S&H. Thanks for the information though.
