Odd question about exhaust smell.
Ok this might be a wierd thing to ask about but seems like my cars exhaust stinks more since it has been out this year. When I say stinks, i mean like a lawnmower/snowblower smell. It has always had a diferent smell than modern cars, but seems to be stronger lately. Engine is less than 5k old, no smoke or anything, and not a raw fuel smell either. Exhaust systems is brand new all the way back. No changes to carb at all. After driving it, I can smell it on my clothes...never noticed it before. What gives?

Re: Odd question about exhaust smell. (DollaGreen)
My 79 Trans Am pulled this on me once.
When it idled, I could clearly smell the exhaust and after driving I found that I smelled like it as well. Came to find out my exhaust pipe had a small hole where they curled up by the trunk before arching down to the tips. Had the hole patched and the smell went away.
Maybe your catyltic converter is stopped up too.

Did your State pass any new laws regarding new formula gas? Sometimes that makes a difference.
Also, were you at a Mexican Restaurant just prior to noticing this smell??

Check to see if the choke is opening properly when warmed up. It sounds like the car is running rich. If it's misfiring, the car could be blowing raw fuel/air mixture out the tail pipe which could be causing the smell as well.
