need tips polishing with 3m pad and 3m swirl remover
Getting ready to polish the wife's car. I already used a clay bar to get the surface clean. Does anyone have any tips or links for polishing the car with a variable speed polisher? The car is black.

Well I went for it.
Tip 1, be carefull as you could spray the vette with polish if the wifes car is next to the vette.

With using most machine polishers, Grinder type, Nothing will completly remove swirl marks during this operation. The Perfect-it line from 3M will do a nice job softening the swirls but to completely remove any signs of machine polishing you'll have to resort to manual labor. Let the machine do the hard part, use the black perfect-it polish with a foam or yellow lambs bonnet. Wash the car after that to clean off all residue and dry as you normally would. Follow up using 3M Imperial Hand glaze using a foam applicator and remove with a micro fiber polishing cloth. The repeat the process with a high quality "Polish" not a wax. A trick I've found is after the polish is dry, wet the applicator with water and wring out the excess, go back over the dried polish in small areas and remove the rest with the polishing cloth. Doing this will reduce or eliminate the shadowing effect you sometimes see on black or dark colored paints.

Here's a shot of the Z28 after claybar, 3m swirl remover and z-tech wax.

Been busy today I see. I should have hit my vette one time just to get the shine up on it. We are going somewhere in it tonight if I have to push it all the way there and back. I haven't driven my vette since January.
