Help Texas members! Is this company legit?
I am purchasing an engine from this company through Ebay, I wanted to know if anyone here has had experience with them. They are Total Performance, in Dickinson TX. They sound OK through email and they want payment through Paypal which makes me feel better.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm just up the road from Dickinson. Haven't heard of them and I don't recall them being at the recent Super Chevy show in Baytown. Do they have a street address or phone number?

Thank you for the replies, The address is 406 Deats Rd. Dickinson TX,
Phone# 832-561-0477. He told me that he was having trouble with his phone, when you called from a long distance number it says that the party is not accepting calls, I tried any way and he was right. Usually This would scare me off but If I pay through Paypal and he doesn't send the engine they will give my money back and go after him for it. He is also ID verified. Thank you again for the help.

I live just a few blocks from Deats Road!
Been here since 1963, and have never heard of them, but I will check it out for you this afternoon.
BTW, the fax number Tom73 gave is a Dickinson number

I would be very VERY grateful for the help. Maybe you could check the engine out for me if they are legit. The engine is brand new so it will be a visual thing. I will post a link to the auction. Thanks again.

Something does not add up.
This is 409 Deats Road, Dickinson, TX 77539:
It is an out of business carwash across the street from a low income apartments.
On the ebay, I noticed that his location is Webster, TX which is about 5 minutes from me.
The League City address that Tom73 posted is close by as well, and I can check it out later this afternoon.

I will try the phone number later to see if I can stop by to check out the engine for you. He might just live at the apt. and work in League City which due to zoning in the area could also be called Webster.
I am sure it is all legit, but I will check it out for you!

$3500 for a new LS6 Corvette motor is either the deal of the decade or there is something fishy here, did you send the money yet ?
I don't thinl PayPal just refunds your money automatically there is alot more to it than that, better check the fine print

I am holding on to all hope that it is real, That would be a steel for that engine. I have not sent the money yet. Thank you for all the help, and matchframe thank you for the pic. maybe a local person can get through to that number. If it is real that engine will look great with a polished magnuson sitting in my 69 coupe!

I'd pass. Too many red flags. All of seller's feedbacks are from "seller's" (including one for a Nintendo). This guy has no selling history to verify. Plus, selling a high-dollar engine (from his low-income apartment) for $3500?

Here is the pic of 406 Deats Road Dickinson. It is a low income apartment complex... mostly day laborers live there.
I will try to contact the guy with the number you posted to see if I can set up a time to go look at the engine.
I sent you an email with my cell number if you want to contact me.

The 832-561-0477, which is the area code for local cell numbers, said that it was not accepting incoming calls at the owner's request.
281-332-5857, the League City number had no answer, or answering machine. That could be a legit business. I will drive past the address to confirm that for you.
The "fax" number, 281-534-6344, I got an answering machine that said Elizabeth was not in right now, to leave a message.

Good thing I purchased it under my wifes Ebay account Didn't want to mess up my rating! Two things my dad taught me, If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, and It is only a good deal if you have the money for it. Both hold true in this case, lol. This falls under the "you never know factor" It probably is fake but you never know it might just be real and you never know until you try. This is what taught me to think this way, short story. Iwas working on a job in PA with two other guys for a week and next door to where we were working was an all original 67 big block Corvette under a tarp, you can tell the car had been there for years. I told myself the usual, They probably won't sell it and if they did would want a fortune for it, so I didn't approach them. On the last day of the job the guy I was working with went over and talked to the lady, an hour later he came back with a grin on his face and a title in his hand, HE PAID $1,000.00 for it,
It was her X husbands who left her for another woman and had made the mistake of putting the car in her name for insurance reasons!
