No not in a 72. Check to see that you have voltage at the coil when the ignition is in the on position. There is a resister wire tha tgoes to the coil that sometimes burns up.

Pull one of the plugs and see if you are getting fire at the plugs. Ground the plug to something on the engine and have someone turn the car over and check for spark.

Anyone have gas?

Spark, gas and air = running motor.

That would be my next thing to check. Are you getting fuel to the carb?

If you are getting spark at the plugs and gas when you push the pedal. You should not have grounding or condenser problems.

Was the car running before the battery change? Could it be a timing issue?

The car battery died while on my was to work, I got a jump and drove it home. I took out the alternator to have it tested. it was fine. I purchased a new battery. 40 amp to 100 amp. Car would turn over just fine. I replaced, coil, resistor, condensor and points. I have spark to #1 and have it timed. I have gas coming out of the jets. grounded the block. I'm giving up this afternoon and having the car towed to get fixed. after 15hours and alot of running to the parts store I'm defeated. Thanks for your help. If you think of anything before this evening let me know. I tried all your suggestions

I got a call from the shop, I guess it was not electrical at all. My new Edelbrock card, less than 200 miles needle broke ? totally flooded all the time. SUCKS, but al least it will be fixed and I can drive tonight - YEA!
