Default Speedo & Tach cable lube ?

With my dash out I now have access to both ends of the Speedo and Tach cables. What is the best way to lubricate these cables?

If your 74 is like my 80 in regards to the construction of the speedo cable, you can take the innards (inner cable) out and give it a good cleaning. Then slather it with white Lithium grease and put it back together. You will be good for another 20 years or so. Just keep the tip that inserts into the speedo head clean of the grease so it doesn't get into the speedo itself. This is what I did with mine for the upper cable (2 piece for cruise control) and it worked like a charm. I am getting ready to do the same for the lower cable as well.
