Anyone know anything about Pontiac Motorsports Head ?
All I ever see and hear about is the regulars like Dart, AFR, Edelbrock etc. and in the Gm line Fastburn and Vortec. So I am looking at the GM Performance site and come across part # 10033867 Pontiac Motorsports Head.
Does anyone know anything about these heads like flow numbers, price etc. and why no-one here uses them, They have 2.10 intake valves and 62cc chamber, sounds like a killer head ?

This aluminum head for small-block V8s offers a substantial increase in both airflow and horsepower with minimal preparation. It has a standard intake port location, and is compatible with most small-block V8 components. Ductile iron seats for standard length 2.100" intake valves and 1.625" exhausts are installed. Phosphorous bronze guides are included with this head but are not installed. It has conventional 62cc combustion chambers, and uses 3/4" reach gasketed 14mm spark plugs.

This is a GIGANTIC volume head for NASCAR Winston Cup racing. Do not try to use it on a motor under 410 cu/in and even then it will have a "soft" bottom end. The Phase 6 Bowtie can be used as a street head but, there are better aftermarket heads that will cost less unless you find the Ph6 for less than $600/pr.

The #867 Pontiac head is a GREAT one!! It falls between the phase 6 Bowtie and the 18* actually there were a few different ones, some even had an 18* valve angle and were used to cheat in NASCAR...They were cast by Brodix but I think GM did the machine work......

Out of the box the 10033867 head is under 200cc intake runner. It is a speacial head Pontiac had built by Brodix to strech the rules of Nascar. It is NOT intended to be used without being ported. It has enough deck material to allow it to be angled milled and a lot of material in the roof of the runners to allow it to be ported to a raised runner head while still being allowed to run under standard port location head rules. When it is fully ported properly it will have intake runners around 220cc and chamber volume around 52cc. It uses a 60/40 valve spacing offset to help enhance intake port shape. It is a VERY expensive head, racer net around $950.00 each. Unless you have to meet a specific set of rules there are other heads available that do not require as much port work at a lot better price. When it is done properly it is an outstanding head. It will easily support 650 -675hp on a high compression 355.

considering some of the heads I have been looking at $950 each is about average....add a $2000. CNC job and some "hand finishing" work and your right in the ball park.....while not in the catalog Brodix will cast you a pair of -10RI heads for $1400.......
