Identifying and valuing a 78 Pace Car
I own a C4 and a C5. But have no knowledge on C3's.
My brother has a line on what is claimed to be a 60,000 mile '78 Pace Car ( L82, Auto)
I believe that these Pace cars had a special identification number.
How can he determine if it is an original or a clone?
What should he look for.
He is a mechanic so can assess general mechanical reliability . I have advised him to check for rust on the frame and B pillar.
What else should he look for?
How can he be sure it is the real thing?
Is there a '78 Pace car registry?
Apparently, the body and paint are in very good shape but it needs new carpeting, set skins and a steering wheel.
Any opinion on value?
thanks

I cant help you with how to ID a pace car but there does seem to be plenty of them out there with very low miles on them. I see them in the9K range up to 20K (dealer asking price) with 12,000 miles on them.
