WTB - 68/72 stingray. ATL
I am looking for 1968/1972 Corvette.
I live in Atlanta, but i am from Italy.... i want to buy it now and then take it to italy with me as soon as i go back!
For that reason, i'm looking for a matching numbers, good conditions... i prefer to spend 13/15k, but i can spend a little bit more if the car is super nice.
I prefer manual, but automatic is ok.
I want to be honest.. i'm not a big expert of Corvette, but i'm studying now
I've already seen a couple of them (but the 1974 model, which i don't like so much), but now i know i want the 68/72 model
I prefer something around ATL....
Not in a rush.
Ciao!

13/15k won't get you a REALLY nice of a chrome bumper car. You could get something drivable, but it would need work, and certainly wouldn't be a DD. Also for that price I would be VERY weary of frame rust.
Good Luck on the search!

Also you can use this site to search multiple craigslists within a certain area of your zipcode. To search use "1969 corvette" I wouldn't suggest "stingray".

If you want to pick up a few tips on some of the details of that series you might check out my web page on my restoration, I just updated it and just getting the final touches on a restoration. This one would be a bit out of your price range but might be good for info.

I am about 4 hours west of you in Mississippi. I bought my Vette not to long ago but am already considering selling. Unfortunately I'm in the military and the moving around/housing etc makes giving my car the proper attention difficult. PM me if your interested in more details but the jist is below:
1972 Corvette T-top
4 Speed, 350
All numbers match
Little to no rust, seen very little rain, birdcage is in very good condition
Less than 75,000 original miles
Paint is about 2-3 years old, repainted the same original targa blue.
Interior is in excellent condition and all original (except for an aftermarket CD player in the dash)
Many more details on request, along with pictures.
I love the car and have done alot of searching in this area, good condition chrome bumpers are hard to come by but they can be found with patience. I'm asking $20,000.

Quick question.
Can anyone tell me more about the "matching numbers"? I mean, if i look at a Corvette, where do i read those numbers? I guess one is on the engone, but where? I have to compare the one on the engine with the one on the label under the hood?
Thanks!

IMO matching numbers means that its the original drivetrain: Engine, transmission, and differential. The way to verify this is by comparing the last few digits of the VIN (under the drivers side windshield) to the numbers stamped into those components cases.
The engine has a stamp on the passenger side head, located vertically along the front edge. The transmission's is much harder to see, it is on the top of the transmission facing the passenger side (I believe). And the diff has a stamp as well,; best bet is to get pictures of a good stamp so you know where it is and what its suppose to look like as it is likely covered in grease.
