74 convertible project for sale
Unfortunately, i have to let my '74 convertible project go.
Frame is nearly perfect, no rust. Has been blasted and painted.
New brake lines, rebuilt SS sleeved calipers, new bushings, new u-joints, frame nearly completed.
has a front clip from a '80 on it -- will need replaced in entirety.
2 sets of seats, most interior parts are in boxes. both door glass in great shape. no windshield.
convertible frame in excellent condition, top material need replaced.
rebuilt .30 over 350 from 70's.
muncie 4 speed
birdcage in great shape - no rust on windshield frame - very solid.
asking $4,500. valrico, FL (SE of Tampa)
pics in this album: album
will post in depth pictures over the weekend.

Rob, what happened to the original front clip? Was the install of the '80 clip a "customization" decision, or was the replacement due to collision damage, and the '80 was readily available? If collision, I would imagine it had to be a pretty hard hit to warrant a complete clip replacement...IF it was collision (assuming for the sake of conversation) was there frame damage that was repaired?

I don not know the history of the front clip, it was part of the car when I acquired it. I have had the entire body off when I sandblasted the frame and painted it. As far as I could tell there was no collision damage, the frame is in excellent condition, there was no rust to speak of anywhere.
I will dig up the pics from the sandblasting process and post them for you. I think I have a sketchbook of my notes and the measurements I took when I first started working on it.

Dave, I added some more pics I found to the dropbox link.

I didn't find the ones I was looking for, I will have to check my old computer.
If its not raining tonight I will drop the car down on the lift and get some current pics of the front end for you.

Thanks Rob, I found them. A couple of things I thought of: 1) Do you have the headlight assy's, vacuum relays, etc... and 2) Do you have the 2 lower supports that are needed for the correct 74 front bumper cover? They are indicated in the pic below (yellow arrows)

I think I still have a set of headlight assemblies (not from this car, but an ebay purchase) I will look for those also and see what I have that I can include with the project.

Good deal, thanks Rob. I'd like an idea of where I would stand...I've been through a frame off resto on a '73, and I know finding some of those parts can start to get costly in a hurry.
I would be interested in knowing if, when you've had a chance to inventory, you also have all of the workings for the hood solenoid, as well as the original Rochester carb, intake, exhaust manifolds, and the cowl-induction air cleaner.
I look forward to the results of your inventory.
Thanks!!
Dave
