FS - 1972 Corvette LS-5 454 4spd
Grandma's 1972 Corvette "W-code" coupe LS5 454ci, Muncie 4spd, factory a/c, ps, t-tops, deluxe interior w/leather trimmed seats and luggage rack. Originally a War Bonnet Yellow car. My mom has owned this car since 1990 and it has been well cared for and has been parked in the garage for years. The paint, engine, trans and center section were rebuilt/redone by previous owner. Recent work includes all new SSBC rotors, calipers, new master cyl, professionally rebuilt rear trailing arms and big block axles with all new bearings, hubs, backing plates, studs, HD u-joints, e-brake cable, HD rear end cover, fresh gear oil w/GM posi additive, HD rear leaf spring, rebuilt Q-jet carb, Die Hard battery, tires and much more. $28,500 obo....not interested in trades or consigning car etc.
Thanks
Thanks

More info and pics of 72 454 4spd
Here's some more info about the car.
- I believe it to be all original, but the block currently shows no vin numbers on the pad under the pass side head, so I'm guessing it was decked when the engine was rebuilt.
-The car build date inside the door is H22...which is Mar 22 72
-The block casting number is 3999289 (which is correct for Corvettes) and the casting date is B 25 72.
-Both heads are the correct casting # ending in "241" and both have casting dates B 15 72.
-The intake is not the original cast iron intake that would of came on the car, but its a factory gm oval port aluminum "winters" Corvette low rise intake from a 68 or 69 427 car.
-The exhaust manifolds are both the correct casting numbers for 72, 828 and 869, but I can't see the casting dates.
-The car still has the factory deep groove pulleys including the one for the AC.
-The AC compressor is not on the car and I don't have the brackets for it, but I have the compressor my mom says the guy gave her when she bought the car.
-The Muncie trans is the original transmission that came with the car showing the same vin # as the car and is dated P2C14 (Mar 14 72) I believe the trans to be an M22 rock crusher because of the noise it emits when driving, but it shifts like butter and is tight...so its not a mechanical issue. The only sure way to tell is to remove it from the car. FYI - They only made 20 cars with M22's.
-It's hard to make out the rear gear ratio on the bottom of the rear pumpkin but it looks like AW which designates 3.08. I maybe just mis-reading it because the numbers are so faint and because of the road grime.
-The car is missing the stock corvette radio and has a Pioneer AM/FM cassette player in the dash.
-There are two scratches on the car which kinda look like someone keyed it at some point, but were there when my mom bought it. One light one on part of the door and one deeper one on the hood. See pics
The odometer shows 08455, which I would guess means 108,455. Since 1990 my parents maybe put 1800 miles on the car and that's about it. It sat in the garage for years on jackstands after the rearend cover spring supports broke in the mid 90's until I replaced it, the trailing arms, rotors, calipers etc etc. about 6 years ago after my dad died. Since then my mom occasionally drove the car to club events and shows and maybe put another 600-700 miles on it.

Factory tach was working and went out to drive car and it stopped working...turns out the tip of the cable at distributor broke. Also I don't have it in the original listing, but the car comes with original owners manual and the rear window is removable...not sure if that was std on all C3's but figured I would mention it. Price drop - Drive her home this weekend for $27,500

Hi d,
The transmission ID sequence you listed is missing it's last letter.
I believe it's that letter that will verify M20 wide range, M21 close range, or M22.
Take another look?
Regards,
Alan

I finally got back under the car when I replaced the starter today. The upper mount bolt hole (furthest away from the block) on the cast iron nose had broke at some point and it was acting like a bad solenoid.
Anyway, I checked the transmission #'s again and found the letter "A" following the trans #'s. This designates trans as an M20 wide ratio...which makes more sense since the rear gear appears to be a 3.08 gear.
I also replaced the positive battery cable (lots of fun, for those of you who have done it) and installed thermo sleeves on the cable and starter wires to protect them from the heat of the exhaust manifolds. This is a really nice car with lots of plus' for someone looking for a solid mostly original car. I hate to admit it, but I'm kinda growing fond of the car the more things I do to it. If I didn't already have my grandfather's 55 Chevy H/T Bel Air to restore, I'd probably end up buying it myself. Also found the T-top covers and a nice car cover.
One more time $24,750

Anyone looking for a really nice mostly original big block car that needs a little love after years of sitting in the garage. Grandma is not driving this car and someone should be enjoying this car.

Hello,
The car is located in Northern California. She's open to realistic offers but not much lower. The car is a nice clean drive-able car that you can drive and enjoy as it sits or restore back to original and will be worth a lot more. You won't get hurt either way. Thanks for asking
