WTB: Chrome-bumper C3 restomod (BB or LS-based)
Just as the title says. The one car I have owned that I wish I'd never sold was a '69 BB 'vert that was a NOM car that I turned into a restomod/hot-rod. I miss it.
But I'm picky, and I'm not going to over-spend on someone else's finished project that they got bored with. Have cash, and will travel for/ship the right car. But if you want 80-90 cents on the dollar, then I'm not interested.
Preferences:
chrome bumper car ('68-72)
low mileage LS-based engine or BB engine...modified for more power than stock
suitable suspension, driveline, and brake upgrades
5/6-speed trans
coupe
will still consider rubber bumper car and/or convertible
Here's a pic of what I had: '69 w/ Gen IV 454, AFR heads, etc... put out 460rwhp, through a Richmond 5-speed, 3.08 rear. It was a fun and fast car.
Had a lot of great cars...but this is the only one I look back and wish I'd never sold it.

Just curious, what did you get for your restomodded '69? I understand if you don't want to say, I'm asking because I'm just completing my restomodded big block '69..

ddawson,
I had a '98 Saleen S351R... sold it about 8 months after I bought it. Beautiful car inside and out, but the Saleen programming neutered it something fierce (at the time, there was no way to tune it independently). Glad I bought it used and sold it for more than I paid.
Overall, probably the worst performance car I have ever owned.

Reviving this old thread of mine... never found anything and bought a couple of cars since... but I'm back in the market, looking for something done right that the owner has gotten bored with.

That's a beautiful car, and I remember when you put it up for sale last year... I had another car in the fold, so I wasn't prepared to seriously look. You've got a ton of great parts in there, as well as an awesome frame, and a well-sorted combo. Still, I'm holding out for a BB or an LS car for what you will want to get out of yours.

Any pricing info on the car ?

I'm just a Ford guy in a Chevy world, not that there's anything wrong with that. If I sold this Vette I'd buy another Shelby. Good luck in your search. Well done chrome bumpers are hard to find but not impossible. Take your time.

Throwing your budget out there may help?

I could build the car I want for $70-80k. I'm looking for someone who has built/owned one and looking to get rid of it for whatever reason. So I'm not paying that for something that I will inevitably have to tinker with in order to get to my personal liking.
This being said, these cars are hard to find, but there are also significant degrees of fit, finish, and build quality/parts used. It's also a very small, selective market with unique tastes in design and implementation. For the right car, I'm willing to travel and pay a healthy/fair amount.

It was a beautiful day yesterday and got mine out of storage. first time started since October 2018. For some reason the sound quality is not that good on my laptop. My phone sounds much better for some reason. However, never rev'd it past 2000 RPM in the garage but when taken out on the road and rowing thru the gears is absolutely incredible

Sounds real good on my surround-sound on my desktop. Sounds a lot like my car pictured above back in the OP. Very, very nice.

I would love to mod my 73 convertible but the urethane bumper just takes away a little too much for me....Others may not think so and that's fine....Just got such a great deal on it when I got it 17 years ago....
If I ever sell mine and want another C-3 it would have to be both crome bumpers..
