Default FS:1969 427/400 Conv.

Listing my Stingray......looking for sale outright or partial trade for 68 to 72 small block car.....
Number matching or mods not so important but no body mods outside the hood.
Show me what you have!

######################################## ########

1969 Corvette 427/400 Tri-Power 4 speed
Original Tri-Power car 1 of 2072
Sold 10/68 at Jameson Chevrolet in Seguin, Texas
Original survivor type.
Originally 983 code Fathom Green....painted 988 code Burgandy
Recent Convertible top in excellent condition...with like new frame
Paint is Approx 20 years old....typical chips and such but shines up nice and very presentable.
Saddle interior about a 7 out of ten......no tears in seats...but typical wear...all original intetrior.
Fiber optics work
72,000 miles....undocumented but condition leads me to believe it is so
Numbers matching 427/400
Original trans and rear end.
Engine Rebuild in 1994 included the following:
.060 TRW Forged domed pistons (440 ci....runs 200F in 105F Texas heat)
Comp XE268 cam
Guide liners
Induction hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel

4 speed Muncie M20
3.08 posi rearend (cruises nicely down E-way)
Factory A/C (Needs charge...I have 3 cans of R12....when you turn it on, the compressor engages and makes no noise)
Nice Original 4 core radiator
7 blade fan
Mallory electronic ignition conversion
Brand New battery
I rebuilt the center carb after I got it...end carbs function as they should
Brand New Wilcox 2 1/2 chambered exhaust (I installed..sound very nice)
Monroe Gas-Matics all around (recent)
255/60/15 BFG T/A radials (new)
New Stainless brake calipers and brake hoses all around (brakes are great!)
1 coil out of front end (Someone installed new Moog front coils and I thought it sat too high)

No rust on birdcage ever.....undercarriage very clean as you can see from photos
Original paint on suspension

This car sat for 15+ years in a climate controlled Vette collection.
All that was needed to make it road worthy was new brakes, hoses, tires, fluids
It runs and drives wonderful.....very fast and torquey...handles on rails (The Big Block heavy front end to me is a myth), tracks straight and true, had it up to 120MPH....no hunting or weirdness.
Trans shifts excellent and linkage is solid and true
It gets about 12MPG....which is what they got.....some tuning could improve this...but I have not had the time to do it
It needs a wiper motor, heater blower motor, A/C charged...all of which I will do for the new owner
Vacuum wiper door and headlights work perfect
Stock AM/FM works fine but speakers are old.....repo speakers are available
Luggage rack in mint condition....no pitting
I put new outside/inside mirrors in it as they bounced around

I really enjoy this car....I have put 1200 miles on it in the last year....starts every time....easy to drive
Top down in forth is great....no need to shift with 500 ft/lbs. torque

It is not perfect.....it could use paint down the road and carpet...maybe seat covers......
The engine could use a mild detail......but every thing under the hood is original and correct right down to the plug wires

Restored this car is worth well over 65k

I hate to see it go....but need to re-coup some money to buy house, I will get a small block 69-72 somewhere......

E-Mail me for OneDrive link for pics.

Any other questions please let me know.....

Price is $44,000 U.S.

THANKS!
Jebby
(Jeffrey Gadient)

Beautiful car. 400hp roadster with air is not common. Is it possible to show a good pic of the engine pad and back of the alternator.
Thank you,
Ed

One more thing, any GM documentation? Window sticker, tank sticker, etc?

I can yes....and with no fear as I am certain it is not a restamp.
Just curiously.....why the back of the alternator?

This reminds me....I do not have the smog equipment for this car.

The alts on these cars are very unique, part number 1100833. They have fins and were a one year only part. The later style that ran into 1970 also had fins but was positioned differently. It was hard to see in the pic. If it does not have fins then its not original or correct.

Is there a reason you will not show the stamp? If you don't want to show your vin just block out the last 3 digits of the vin.

I have been looking for a 427 roadster for sometime. I need to see the stamp before I even consider looking further. Most buyers will require a pic of the stamp when spending over a certain amount of money. Every seller assures me they are certain it's original but there is no way any seller can know unless they are the original owner and have been with the car since new.

It's just standard procedure.

I did not say I would not show it.....I was just reinforcing the fact that I have no fear of it....maybe you took it out of context....no matter.
I have been around Vettes since a wee kid and know the drill
I am at work at the moment and don't have a pic here in my computer of the block stamp.....I can just say for sake of conversation that it is not a restamp....too much patina.
When I got the car I drove 1200 miles for a trade.....I was not there but 10 minutes and the first thing I wanted to look at was the VIN stamp.....I was happy when I saw it
Interesting about the alternator.....I will snap a pic of it too....

I will get that stamp posted ASAP

Is there any other photos that one would want to see?

I will answer any questions one might have.....my goal is to represent it as authentically as possible......
I have many other pics in my OneDrive cloud....E-mail me for a link . Jebbysan@hotmail.com

Thanks everyone for your replies and all thoughts and ideas are considered with an open mind....I'm easy!

Okey doke....took a shot of the engine pad when I got home.....hard to get a good shot in the dark....but I believe this does it justice and as you can see....there is very little chance of this being a re-stamp....
It is the correct "LQ" code...which denotes 427/400 MT
I did not have a shot of it in my files....never needed it til now.

The alternator is incorrect....it has a part number of 1102486 on it....61A stamped on it.

Some options I failed to mention were the Tilt/Tele column and the A85 custom shoulder belts..(not common with convertible)

I have not looked for the tank sticker but I will pull the gas rubber out this weekend and take a look to see if I can see it.

Some pics of the undercarriage....these were taken one year ago and it has the old tires on it and the original exhaust. I have not driven it in anything but sunny weather and it looks the same.

I will do some close up shots of anything anybody requests.

Some pics of the interior.....

The interior is about a 7 out of ten....no tears or cracks....just wear....I believe it is all original as well.....
Some carpet and the AC/Heater plate resto piece would do wonders for it.....

E-brake works great...clock does not :/

Great looking 427/400 with air,as ed427 said it is a pretty rare 69. Few years back I had black/black 400 coupe with air that I sold at Carlisle. As a matter of fact a Forum member owns it now, that 69 with that motor was a beast.

Looks like it has a std. interior with deluxe seat covers. On a '69 I don't know for sure.
My '71 has a std. interior with deluxe door panels. I like it. I put a repop wood trim on the shifter plate. It really tied it together. I'd like to get someone to change the carpeted part to 80/20 loop.

Your car is real nice. Real nice.
Price is real nice as well. Real nice.
Another CF member and I looked at a '69 427/390 car the other day.
Nowhere near as nice as your car. Not even close.
Ask was $47+. Next to your car...$27. Maybe less.

GLWS
