FS: 1968 Coupe In Black Prime
Off the market. Going to the shop for painting.
I bought the '68 in 1999 with 166,000 miles. Currently it has about 180,400 miles. When I bought the car, it had been in a barn/garage for
about 10 years. The car is an original 427/390 big block. The current 427 in the car is a fresh block. I am the second owner of the car. The car has spent basically it's entire life in CT. I began the restoration process as soon as I got it. The first item of business was in the mechanicals. The process I undertook allowed me to drive the car every spring/summer/fall. All the restoration work except the engine build has been done at Corvette Connection in Bolton, CT. Parts as needed have come from Paragon, Ecklers, Corvette America, Mid-America Corvette, Quanta, Bairs, Long Island Corvette Supply, O. E. M. Glass Inc., Corvette Specialties of Maryland, Corvette Steering Service, Lectric Limited Inc., Corvette Rubber Company, Classic Tube, Sermershein's for fiberglass, and Corvette Connection.
2. The engine currently in the car started as a 1969 427 short block that had never been used before I bought it and I had it custom built. The engine has been bored to 433 and it has oversize TRW pistons. The only power equipment is the steering. Besides the engine, the radiator, transmission, springs, shocks, fuel lines, all coolant hoses, brake lines,
rotors, fuel tank, front wiring harness, vacuum hoses, overflow tank, shifter, body mounts, bolts and nuts, windshield, some chrome pieces, master cylinder, alternator, and anything that needed to be restored or replaced has been done.
3. The restoration of the body was done in 2 parts, first the front end to the doors and then the remainder. The car was lifted in order to replace the body mounts and the frame was then cleaned and painted. However, The car is now in black prime and all the fiberglass work has been done. The car is awaiting painting.
4. The '68 has transistorized ignition, positraction, rear window defogger,
tinted glass, 3:36 rear end, which is original. The engine build includes Hedman headers, Weiand Stealth intake manifold, and Holley Carb., and the exhaust has Flowmasters and the x-pipe.
5. The front restoration was done in Feb/Mar 2008. It included new front
bumper, front bumperete L and R, air dam, front spoiler, front license plate bracket, front emblem, grille, parking light lenses, and associated hardware. It also included new hood hinges, wiper actuator boot, wiper repair kit, wiper door, wiper nozzles, wiper blades, vacuum hoses, wiper actuator control, relays, solenoid, and associated hardware. It has a new L88 hood with air chamber, Hoosier rubber seal, fenders, nose, skirts, shields, and associated components. The rear end restoration was done in Jan-Marc 2010. It included new gas tank and sending unit, overflow hose, straps, fuel door bezel and hinge, fuel filler neck overflow hose support and boot, and associated hardware. It also included new outside mirrors L and R, plates and associated hardware. Additionally it included a body mount kit, rear body mounts and reinforce brackets and shims, new windshield, all rubber seals and vapor barrier door panels, rear backup and side lights housings, gaskets, rear lenses license plate bezel, aluminum plates, and antenna. All body components were properly aligned.
6. The exterior is back to original. The car has Intro wheels and 18 inch Nitto tires. I have all the original rims and hubcaps. The interior of the car is original except for the Recaro seats, competition seat belts, and the leather steering wheel. I have all the original pieces in storage also. The car also has an aluminum fuel door and bezel hinge assembly, but I have the standard one.
7. I have also other OEM pieces that go with the car. The transmission and engine are not numbers matching. The transmission is an M20 but of early 70's vintage which is more sturdy than the original M20. The shifter is a Muncie.
8. The car has always been while I have owned in a garage.
9.. The car was last appraised after all the body work was completed.

Thanks. I am pleased you like it. As far as a trade, I would be open to one, but it would have to be a C6. I am glad you asked.

Bump for seller. I bought his 01 supercharged corvette he used to have last year sight unseen and Jmbbluevette was a class act throughout the entire process. The car arrived exactly as advertised and I have been enjoying it ever since, thanks again!

Nice looking car, even in black primer, I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet. Maybe need some pictures of the interior and I wonder with the way the ad is worded if many people read the second line that said "427 replaced with 350", stopped reading (as I did initially) and didn't get to the point where it says it now has a 427 again.

^^^ agreed and would help the sale of it. I actually just showed this to a coworker of mine and he didn't even finish the ad after seeing the 350 being mentioned. I had to tell him to go back because it has a 427 bored out to 433.
Wish I could afford to take this one off your hands it looks great, I'm sure it runs even better than it looks based on how you built the C5 I have.
